How any BCI states are there?

We played in the school team state, this is for AAU type teams. They have several different ones. You won the big one!

Thats a good deal but the same weekend as the AAU State Tourney for 13U.

 

This is mostly for school teams, most of which have a hard time competing with allstar teams in AAU D2. But, agreed that it's not the greatest date!

We are thinking about playing in the 13u state AAU. Just getting good competetion. Probably won't have all of our kids either.

The talent level in the 7th grade in Kentucky is awsome. Much higher than the 6th or 5th. Lots of kids that can really play, good luck!

I dont think he was playing on any AAU teams, just school teams. We let him play up with us (12U last spring when he was 10) all the time and he usually is hanging around practices filling in with the older kids. This IMO is why he is as good as he is at his age, he is always playing with the older kids. I think if he can use the aggressiveness he shows on the football field in his basketball game he will be that much tougher. He will definitely help the Hornets down there. I wonder if they are going Div 1 or Div 2 though.

 

Jakey attends Fort Thomas Public schools, we all know school ball doesn't exist for these kids. He played for the Express. A team made up of kids from Fort Thomas and Bellevue. They played in two leagues, the Newport 5/6 grade league and a league at Sports Plus in Evendale. The competition level was definetly lower than he is stepping up into. He put on a nice show at the Jazz tourney at NKU last month. The Hornets played right after on one occasion and the coaches would have gotten a nice look at his abilities.

We are thinking about playing in the 13u state AAU. Just getting good competetion. Probably won't have all of our kids either.

 

Georgetown Thunder has played D1 in its age group, then D2 in the age group one above the last 2 years and plans to do it again this year. As long as you understand what you could be getting into, I would say do it but make sure you aren't disappointed if it turns out badly.

Were not worried about the scores, we just want to play. It is so hard to find games for us in our area. Especially now that baseball has started.

This is surprising to me (which I will admit don't follow AAU like some of the people on this post). I would have said the 6th grade is very strong.

 

In your opinion, who are the top players per grade? 5th , 6th and 7th?

Two of our players played with Mountain Thunder last year in the 12u division. They went 3-0 in their pool with a 10 point win over the Nets who finished runner-up to Somerset by 3. They made it to the final eight and were tied with Campbell County with about 2:30 left before they pulled away.

 

We may add a couple of the other players, so we are optimistic as always.

I thought the Mountain Thunder had a solid team in last year's state tourney. They had some nice size. The NKY Rockets (now Warriors) played them in the Georgetown Tourney last year and it was a tight game most of the way with the Rockets coming out with the victory.

 

Looking forward to this year's State 13U AAU tourney D2. Should be some very good teams showcasing the 7th grade talent across the state.
