I agree, Snyder would have made the game competitive. I am telling you the Legends are coming, just wait a year or two. The Warriors have too many good players, you just can't keep that many happy forever. The Tarheels are a BIG away from being REALLY good. The Legends will get there also. I believe these 3 can compete anywhere in the country in the next 2-4 years.

 

Johnson County kids all played really good. I really think you were better than Somerset and in the last game all of the kids on both teams were so tired it really was more of a survival game. I also would like to compliment the rest of their players, especially the little point guard, he did a great job all weekend and he has improved the most, he was the difference I believe. All of the other kids really stepped up also.

 

The Somerset kids just believe they are supposed to win. I think both of their teams played extremely well. I didn't expect either to do as well as they did. No one in DII can play half court with Johnson County, just too many weapons.

 

I can't get over the lack of big kids in the 12/u division, of course most of them play for the Warriors, Legends, or Johnson, ha!

 

I also believe the NKY Wolfpack would have been tough to beat with McNeil in the DII tourney. The NKY Wildcats also played incredibly well and extremely hard. They really did a good job.

 

I really can't see but 3 DI teams next season unless a couple of the other teams go together or a new one is created in Louisville or Lexington. I learned all I needed to in our little trial run. Size and Depth are what make a DI team and we are a whole lot short on both.

 

You are to be commended for your run. Look for another D1 team to come out of NKY next year!:sssh:

I realy didn't think the Wolfpack where the favorites. There was just something missing from that team. I didn't get to see any of this weekend tournament but it sounded like the NKY Wildcats played well until the final four, then they stood around of offense. In D1 it sounded like the Tarheels laid a egg.

 

The Wolfpack led us the whole game, we took the lead with about 1 minute to go. I thought they were very good. I had seen # 3 play so we took our big kid and chased him. He still had a good game. They have a really strong team.

Wolfpack is a good team, I wasn't putting them down. I have watched them win some good games agaisnt some good teams this season. They are well coached as well. But when I watch them, there is just something missing. Maybe it's me, I have been wrong before.

Anybody know who might be playing in BCI tourney this weekend? I know its Sweet 16 weekend and tons of NCAA on but the NKY Warriors 13U went ahead and entered. HOpefully they have enough teams. Games for the Warriors are Friday night and 2 on Saturday.

I believe the 13U Wolfpack are playing there also. It will be interesting to see how they matchup against the Warriors.

They will pose a few matchup problems. The Warriors have 3 big men but dont play them at the same time and they have small guards who can handle and shoot. The Wolfpack from what I know and read seem to be very long and big with no small guards. Either way, should be good for the boys to get some good games in. Still waiting for 3-4 of those Warrior guards to shoot up. Bueter/Dupont/Devoto/Witte havent grown much in 2 yrs but all can shoot and handle very well.

I heard the Hornets 11U picked up Jakey Whitford from Ft.Thomas for the STate Tourney. This is a very nice addition. He is a tall 2G and adds a ton of fiinesse and very good shooting. Might have one of the highest basketball IQ's for his age in the area. 3 sport athlete as well and will be a very good one.

I dont think he was playing on any AAU teams, just school teams. We let him play up with us (12U last spring when he was 10) all the time and he usually is hanging around practices filling in with the older kids. This IMO is why he is as good as he is at his age, he is always playing with the older kids. I think if he can use the aggressiveness he shows on the football field in his basketball game he will be that much tougher. He will definitely help the Hornets down there. I wonder if they are going Div 1 or Div 2 though.

Does anyone know any BCI game times?

Just got back from BCI tourney and will never go back. The NKY Warriors13U went 2-2 and played some pretty physical basketball. The Warriors defeated the Firehawks, Cincy Warriors 12U and lost to Cincy Warriors13U by 10 and lost to NKY Wolfpack 37-30 in the semis. They had a 2 pt lead at halftime over the Wolfpack and it was a 4 pt game until 1 min to go. There was an issue with the official scorebook keeper at the end of the game that was a complete joke. I wont go into details about it on this post but it created a lot of disdain and will keep the Warriors from ever going back.

 

I thought the style of basketball was good for the Warriors though, playing much bigger teams in the Cincy Warriors 13U and Wolfpack. MClendon wasnt there today. But Mcgovney is their best player. They are well coached and patient on offense but there is a dropoff after McGovney and now I see why they may be considering entering D2 downstate. The Warriors had some costly turnovers in the 4th and missed some FT's but overall a good bunch of games to play. However the way things were handled at the end there with the debacle over the scorebook and such and then the way the operators handled it I can assure you the Warriors wont be back, $100 a tourney or not.
