March 5, 200818 yr It just makes sense for the Hornets to play DI. They have crushed quite a few teams that will be playing D2. Will they win DI, probably not. Would they have won D2, who knows. If they were so worried about winning and winning only then they wouldn't have played up in their leagues and most tournaments. Obviously they are teaching their players to learn the game of basketball at a competitive level. As for next year, there will not be a Hornets team. The original head coach has quit and taken his son with him. The team seems to be playing pretty well right now.

What is this statement based upon and whom might some of these kids be? Perhaps the time is "now" for Highlands Middle School to begin having a 6th grade basketball team.
March 5, 200818 yr Well I wasnt personally on the floor although I have come close . I would also say that on that night the NKY Rockets played a whale of a game and clearly beat the Thunder by 10pts. Not that they want a medal or anything for it but it was a very well played game by the Rockets. I think your last comment makes the most sense when you have a team comprised of individual players such as yours. You get more satisfaction out of giving those kids the experience of playing against top D1 talent Nationally than you do staring at a trophy. Its like an old coach used to tell me when talking about trophies. He would say if you guys want a trophy so bad come on over to my house and I can pull one out of my closet and give you one but if you want to play hard and have fun while experiencing one of the greatest games on earth then stop worrying about trophies. By the way, I agree with you 1,000%, the Rockets played a whale of a game and beat the Thunder. I definitely wasn't trying to take anything away from you. But, as I am we have, there are games we feel you shouldn't have lost. My comments were by no means to take anything away from the Rockets. I don't think you took it that way, and if you did, it wasn't meant that way.
March 6, 200818 yr 12U AAU registered teams are posted on the KBA website. So far there are 27 teams. Will there be a D1/D2 or only one big tournament like last year?

These are some of the kids I know who are strong athletes and it takes nothing away from others not mentioned because I just dont know the class as well as other. Bo Hoge, Griffin Urlage, Jackson Hall, Jakey Whitford are a few that come to mind. I know there is a Weyer boy who I hear is a good athlete and has an athletic family history. The time was 3 yrs ago for a 6th grade basketball team IMO or when they opened Highlands Middle School. This is the biggest flaw in the system up there at this point in time and they need to get it corrected. Otherwise its a great school with excellent teachers and administration.

I don't think you took it that way, and if you did, it wasn't meant that way. No offense taken I just wanted to give the Rockets a little credit for playing well down there that year. Its too bad they hit the Somerset Buzzsaw in bracket play. Looks like the NKY Warriors 13U will play the NKY Flash on Sunday in Ft. Thomas in a non sanctioned game. I know the Warriors coach is trying to line up as many games possible before the state tournament.

They are the best coached team in that division without Pouncy on the Tarheels sideline. If he coaches at state, it's a different story, but he hasn't been coaching them all year. The Legends have all the tools to beat both the Warriors and the Tarheels.

This will be a very competitive D1 Tournament. Who are the favorites for the D2?
