BTW did anyone mention that Mike Glaser invited Central over this week to practice on the turf at St.X to let the Jackets get a feel for PJCS turf since they have not played on it this year. Great jesture by Mike & the Tigers, who says private & publics can't get along! Go Tigers Take State!

 

I noticed that earlier today. I also think it is a great jesture. Good for all concerned. Would it not be really great for Central and their kids, fans and community to win this one. I am sure they much appreciate X's Help. :thumb:

No let's be realistic here. St. X averages over 40 points a game and only gives up 6.9. Considering the schedule they've played, this might be one of the best defenses the state has seen in some time. Of course, they would only need to score 2 or 3 points to beat Trinity, but I feel pretty confident they'll score more than that on Saturday night. The way they dominated the lines in September is something that doesn't change in 10 weeks.

 

If X was able to shut down "an All-American" quarterback with an above average defense, imagine what they're going to do to this year's team. Let's not forget, the first game could have been much worse, if X didn't pull their starters or suffer key injuries.

You beat me to the punch. I was going to post this!! Anyone who knows old history will also know that in the 50s, X and Flaget were the only schools in Jefferson County who would schedule Central.

 

St. X used to practice at Central's pool before they moved to Poplar Level. The schools have a lot of history together.

By the way, Massey is predicting that the Rocks win it 28-29.

You bring up some Great Points. I believe Stein will play better, so you would agree 4 TD's 28 points will beat Trinity. I just don't see Trinity putting up more than that against this years D even with improvements.

 

Another point I would like to bring up is that if both of Trinity's big Offensive Lineman are going to be playing both sides of the ball, Trinity better score early, I just don't see how they can keep the X defense out of the backfield in the 4the quarter.

Speaking of Stein, there is a good article in the Courier journal today detailing Zoeller versus Stein and how they played AAU baseball together on the Louisville Lumber. As a matter of fact, the Lumber will be well represented on Saturday. Stein, Andrew Deeds, Eric Netherton, Wes Weitlauf, Kyle Griffin, and Ross Allen from Trinity. Zoeller, Kevin Brinkman, Matt and Craig Brutscher from St Xavier. 10 players combined that will play a big part in Saturday's game. Not too bad of a baseball team also.

Sounds like an AAU baseball team we used to face down in Western Ky, Kentucky Wolfpack, biggest 12 yr. kids I've ever seen. Their coach, in his thick western ky drawl would say: "Ahh, heck, ow boys jus a bunch of football players trying to stay out of trouble this summer." They were pretty good too.

I don't know exactly how this will happen (I'm still working the details out in my mind), but I predict that Highlands wins this game on Saturday, making history by bringing home TWO state football titles in ONE year, one in 5A and one in 6A! Better luck next year T and X. Go 'Birds!
