If we can find a #2 starter out there somewhere look the heck out NL.

Gonna have to give up something up for that. They need to though.

Reds finally get some pitching!

Great addition to any staff! Only problem is that he only pitches 1/9 of a game! What about the other 8 innings?

Heck, let's just get 9 closers!

Dusty did the same thing in his prior (no pun intended) two stops. Get the bullpen in order with FA signings. Some panned out and some just panned. If Cordero gets 48 saves, he may be the first reliever in a while to save 75% of his team's wins in a season.

If the Reds go 64-98 next year you'll be able to knock me over with a feather. I think that is very unlikely.

To recap: I'm VERY happy the Reds are being aggressive in filling their holes and I'm happy that Mr. C & Co. are stretching the pay-roll. I'm not sure this was the ideal way to spend the money, given the contract, it's terms, and it's length, but you can't say they aren't trying. :thumb:

Acquiring pitching, is a key to build any solid staff. The Reds need help in many areas, from starting, middle, set-up and everyone can use a dependable closer.

Hopefully 1-2 starters can be acquired in some manner and Bailey, can move into the rotation and help stabilize a few slots. I believe the Reds will continue to be active, in both searching and offering.

Do they rely on Cueto, or is he a year away?

Good question and if Johnny and Bailey, both make the rotation, then Management/Fans must understand, there will be a transition period of ups and downs.

Cueto is in low 90's and solid slider, plus a changeup. He's not very big in size and it will remain to be seen, if he can maintain over the long season.

From what I have read and briefly seen, I like his potential. If he does well in spring training and is effective, he will be a option.

Umm, don't you have to be winning in the 8th in order to get the save?:jump::walk::D

Just backing up my man Scribe here. He's a little outnumbered.

Reds lost more 8th inning leads than anyone in the majors.

This is an outstanding pick-up for the Redlegs. :thumb:

That right there is why this is such a solid pickup. The Reds' 8th inning ERA had to be in the stratosphere this year. Move Stormy to 8th inning/setup, move one or two guys who were blowing 8th inning leads out of town.

Burton will stay in the 8th IMO...

I think so also. Move Stormy back to the 6/7. Looks pretty good if they have a lead in the 6th now. :ylsuper:

I thought is was funny when Butcher announced him as Cordova.

Does this make Bray situtional?
