I agree with (overlooked Dunbar), but no way HC scores 35 points on T’s 1st team defense. Rocks offense will score at will. Turnovers and penalities are the only elements that can slow this team down. Beatty will have our young men focused and ready to play!

 

Who specifically on T's "first team defense" matches up with Aaron Boyd? T has seen D L Moore from Bowling Green and Stephon Ball from Cincy St Xavier but Boyd is a 4 star on rivals.com and the best college prospect in KY ( sorry Somerset WR!). He can control the game when he wants to and I think he wants to this week. T can play a good team defense but they have struggled against teams with good WR on the defensive side like BG and Cincy St X by giving up 75 points between those two games. It isn't so much what the WR does but the respect you have to show them. Boyd is better than Moore and Ball and I wouldn't be surprised to see him score at least 2 TD's against T's undersized DB's. Add in an experienced QB and a solid RB and HC will have no trouble scoring. The only way they don't score 30 points is if they decide to slow down the game to keep the T offense off the field.

I would say HC might have trouble getting the ball to Boyd, especially if Weitlauf and Whiting have the QB on his back or scrambling for his life. I don't see the Rocks allowing Boyd to take over this game. Trinity wins this 42-14.

I'm sure the Rocks are going to double Boyd, and key Gay on everything he does....and there is no Jeter or Minnifield this year....how have the Rocks done against mobile QBs this year? That could be a huge factor in this game and Phillipi moves well.....

Jimmyref, I agree with you about a the talent of Boyd and how difficult it may be to stop him. However, the outcome of this game is totally dependent on HC's defensive coordinator. There are very, very few coaches at the high school level who are capable of scheming with Trinity's offense. Add to that Bob Beatty who prepares a GREAT offensive scheme for each week. Although I hate to admit it (since I am a St. X fan) in order to beat Trinity in the playoffs, you have to have turnovers and some luck. Most importantly, you have to be able to score in the 30's, which is nearly impossible for 99% of the teams in the state.

 

My main point: HC better bring more to the table than one talented receiver, because Trinity's defense could stop any GREAT player if he doesn't have any help. The only prediction I am sure of...Boyd will not have a stellar game. Write it down.

The head coach Simpson is in charge of the defense this year. Matter of fact he calls/and gameplans all 3 phases of the game. Wonder if he will shoulder the blame when they lose?

HC ran 12 offensive plays in the first half against Dunbar. So they struggled early and got it on track the second half. My discussion was in response to a running clock comments that some of the T faithful are posting that this game will be a 45 point differential. I haven't picked a winner yet but I see a lot of scoring on both teams part. Believe it or not, I try to stay on task with the Thread subject, specifically T vs HC, not some game that may or may not happen. Quite frankly, I give an opinion of what will happen in this game and the match ups. What do you think will happen on Friday in this game and how do the teams match up?

Before the games last Friday, I thought 70-50 Trinity was a realistic score. Now, with Henry Clay's first half debacle versus PLD, I believe the Rocks will take this one 49-14.

Every single Trinity poster in here has predicted a running clock? As I have looked over the posts I am only seeing 1 maybe two known Trinity posters who have predicted that. I have seen 1 from a St.X fan and a number from folks not from Louisville.
