FYI- HC QB Phillippi is faster than Boyd and has over 800 yards of rushing this year.

 

Let's review: Henry Clay 47-43 vs. Boyle? 41-30 versus Clark County? Early games. HC's defense like T's defense got better as the year went on.

Quality loss: Cincy LaSalle finished 5-5, losing 4 of their last 5 and did not make the playoffs in Ohio. After Beating HC and Elder, they had some injuries and came up short against X ,Moeller, St I's who lost to St X in OT and St Francis who went 12-1 this year and defending state champ Indy Cathedal. 5 losses to solid teamsQuality win for the Rocks 39-28 over Bowling Green. Agreed

Quality losses (I really don't believe in quality losses, but for discussion's sake)to USA Today's #2 in the country and to current AP and Litkenhous state #1 St. Xavier. Highest point total offensively for Cincy St X all year including Lasalle.

Cantrall has it T 96.7 to HC 88.7. That does place Trinity at number 1 in this ranking system.

1. Does HC have other good receivers besides Boyd? Trinity likes to press great receivers at the line with a defensive end with a corner and safety over top. If HC has other good receivers, this could be problematic.

 

2. Is Gay more of a slasher or a powerful back? More like Israel or Rod Johnson? If he's a slasher, that makes Trinity keep more in the box to help on the quick runs/draws.

 

3. Finally, hasn't the qb run for a bunch of yardage this year? Are those scheduled read options or scrambles?

 

4. Has Coach Simpson been in a close game this year, where he's been forced to make pressure calls?

 

1.Aaron Boyd plays the "X" receiver and is usually lined up on the offensive left side. Jason Rider plays the "Y" flexed tight end type receiver. Brendan Kelly doubles as a cornerback and the "Z" receiver. Kelly averages over 17 yards a catch. Gay is the second leading receiver.

I agree, this was the one game in the post season, outside of the title game, that I worried about the most.

One last point I would like to make about this game. Victory is won in the line of scrimage. If HC can win that, they win. I do not see that happening as it was the case last year when HC had more speed and the same QB. Jeter and Minefield were in the secondary and did not stop the Dutton twins I do not think that HC has that kind of talent this year. Again HC has to win in the trenches to beat Trinity and only two teams have done that all year and they are both named X.

Clark Jeter did not play defensive back in any game last season. I thought he should have, but he did not.
