It appears this will be a Corbin size versus Newcath speed match-up on both sides of the ball.

 

When Corbin has the ball they will need the big O-line to grind out yardage on first and second down and stay out of passing situations. NCC's defensive line isn't small (245, 215, 215, 175) but quickness is their strength and the linebackers have size and speed too. Plus if Corbin does pass then NewCath must find a way to pressure the QB.

 

When NewCath has the ball the spread offense needs to get ball carriers and receivers into open spaces and use the no huddle to keep Corbin off balance. If Corbin's defense can get a few quick stops and turn the ball back over to a controlling offense, they can shorten the game and win. If they give up quick scores they could lose.

 

How's Corbin's special teams? Still think that is going to be a major part of this game.

NCC had a MAJOR problem with parents and fans being negative and causing dissention a few years back.

 

I thought we were past all that.

 

If the coaches want that kid in for a few reps, he must deserve it. I know the kid in question and it's not like he isn't good, b/c he is VERY good.

 

If anyone has a problem with not playing talk to the coaches to find out why or go play soccer, you're allowed to whine over there.

They have stuck with the same players. What NKU20 was referring to was at the end of the Newport playoff game with the subs playing and the final TD was scored by a Frosh. After the Frosh season is over a few are asked to practice and dress for playoff games. That has been the case for quite a few years now.

 

Anyway the 28-0 playoff game was just about the same as the 14-0 regular season game except both teams turned it over a lot more. So not sure that you can garner any information from that one.

 

There's nothing wrong with putting the freshman in in that case. If they are up on the score, why not let him play some then. If he is replacing a starter that is one thing but it doesn't sound like that is the case. The freshman they moved up are very good players and will definately see varisty time next year. I also doubt any of the varsity players have any problem with those freshman going in to play some. GO BREDS!

Boo such an early start. I wish it was still at 7:30. That's gonna cut down on my christmas shopping in Lexington (which isn't a bad thing by any means). I guess it'd serve us better to eat following the game now instead of pregame.

I would guess that Corbin requested it in order to be home by around midnight. And with no school Friday, leaving for the game earlier while there is still daylight is a good thing too.

I think the point was there are other SRs and JRs that have been back-ups and playing in sub-time and in this case a Fr. was used late in the game.

 

Bottom-line is that next year there will be about 23 Seniors, about 9 Juniors of which 8 are linemen, and about 23 Sophs who were very talented as Frosh this year. Some of those 23 Sophs are going to have to make major contributions next year for NCC to continue to have success.

I'm just going by what some players have told me and my own observation. I know the freshman is going to be a great player for NCC, maybe even next year. But if that's the case, why take a chance of getting him hurt, and tick some upper classmen off at the same time. I only bring this up because I care about the kids and the program. Just be fair will all the kids.

 

I did not want to sound like a jerk on this issue, Im sorry if I did. Coach Schneider has a talk at the beginning of each football season about playing time and how it is earned. He does not care who your mom or dad is or how much or little money they have. Those that earn playing time get it. He is the most by the book person I think I have ever met. All teams have complainers about playing time. It is very difficult to get time at NCC you have to be better than just good. He has an open door policy if your not happy you can go talk with him, I would use this as a suggestion to (some of the players). I will tell you they have already heard the talk. You do bring up an interesting topic. I hope I see you Friday night at the game rooting your butt off for the BREDS

He's not playing RB and replacing his brother, and it's not late in the game. He was playing defense in the first half at nose guard or monster or whatever you want to call it to help stop the run. They had him practice it during the week. I know there are at least 4 junior linebackers (probably all starters next year) that could play that role.
