Apocalypse or Armageddon??? :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

There does seem to be a lot of interest in who plays for Trinity, how the JVs play juniors, most recently a comment on sophs playing in a freshman game. It is flattering to Trinity I guess, but last I looked, X was having a good season on all levels. I would spend more time applauding my own kids, worry less about the other guy, and focus on #12. Just a thought....

I have first hand experience! My son dreamed of attending and playing football at Trinity. He played and practiced 338 day a year for 4 years in Coach Beatty’s system. He didn’t get a starting role until his senior year! But, before that he was a backup for 3 years and only saw playing time when the game was in hand. He never complained, he wanted to be a part of the tradition and with his friends on the team. What you people outside the Rock circle and some within don’t understand is, there are 100+ kids on the team year in and year out. This makes it very difficult SOMETIMES to get every player in the game when the score gets lopsided. When you have a continuous clock, it sometimes just does not allow enough time to get all the kids in! Sure there were times when I thought more kids should be on the field late in the game. But I’m not behind the scenes and neither are you. The Trinity system is very complicated! Timing! Blocking Stunts! Spacing! etc! The coaches first and for most have to get the reps they feel sufficient for the starters, to accomplish the game plan that was put in for that particular game. I could go on about this! But the bottom line is let the coaches coach and the players practice and play hard! GO ROCKS! Bring home #18! P.S. My son is very proud of the two 4A State Champions rings he has!

Well said.

Jimmyref, thanks for providing your moral compass to all the apostates in St. Matthews (or maybe we should just call the area "Matthews").

No need for that, St. Matthews was St. Matthews long before Trinity was/is/became Trinity.

Come on December!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't read were jimmyref referred to those players down the line at the 3, 4 or 5 slots. I believe if I read it correctly he was asking where was the #2 players?

One question- why at 48-3 in the fourth quarter ( 8 minutes left, running clock) does Stein (A Starter) play fake to Phillips (A Starter) and throw to Carrico (A Starter) for the last TD after Dutton (A Starter) catches the pass before that? Why are these guys in the game at this time? Pad stats? Will it take an injury to change the substitution patterns? Seneca was 1-7. Don't give me "that is the way Coach has always done it and look at his record" reply. What do you say to a back up kid that practices all year that didn't get in this game? I am not talking about the first 44 in the lineup. I am talking about the numbers 44 through 80 players.

"IN GAME" experience is IN-VALUABLE. You can practice against your own scout team all you want, it isn't the same as facing an opponent who wants to stop you from succeeding so they will succeed. PERIOD!

It's a huge gamble to keep your #1 Starting QB, RB, WR DB, LB or S in the game until the end of a lopsided game. Each Player on the sideline is "ONE PLAY AWAY" from being called on to lead the team in their respective positions. If you withhold valuable experience from your #2 players; you are rolling the dice. It's a philosophy; I'm just not convinced it's a smart Philosophy? JMHO.

Think that all you want. I have no reason to doubt Beatty's methods.

I wish Seneca would get it together with their football program. They have so much talent year in and out and produce a dismal team every year.

Think that all you want. I have no reason to doubt Beatty's methods.

So you are saying that in game experience is not invaluable?

What defines what is in hand? Is it 35 point lead? 45 with a running clock? I guess it has to be more. I am saying that this game the substitution pattern was different.

By the way, great site for stats. I mean that. Here's what I found in the participation sheet. 30 players played. I know it's all about December but what about October 19th for the kids who didn't get in? I know this can't be accurate that only 30 players played in a 55-3 game?

As to the only 5 plays discussion, the second half drives started on the Seneca 6 after a punt ( 1 play to score), in the end zone after a Weitlauf interception( 0 plays) and then the Seneca 27 after an interception. So after further review, they played only 1 play in the second half before that drive and I can see sending them out there with the score 48-3 with a running clock.

Did Robey and Alex Dutton not play?

Sure. I must have missed your comments on the DeSales and Holy Cross participation logs.

.

As a matter of fact, Coach Sanders is proud of the fact that every freshmen plays in a varsity game at Desales.

So you are saying that in game experience is not invaluable?

So you're saying Beatty's methods haven't produced?
