That said, do you ever wonder why the X guys spend so much time worrying about what Coach Beatty is doing?

Ring envy.

I noticed this as well. I don't know why Bob did that, but our past indicates that this is not generally the case. Maybe there was a vendetta exorcised or something else.

I think that Trinity has subbed early and often in previous blowout games this year. I agree about the vendetta thing about Seneca-maybe it was a district vote or something that caused the message to be sent to the Redhawks.

Coach Beatty explained that he has to get ready for the playoffs. The starters need time on the field as a unit. They need to play when they are tired. The man's methods may be questioned by the fans and non-fans, but you can't argue with his track record.

This has nothing to do with X. It is a Trinity Seneca thread. This has to do with all of us in the Catholic community in Louisville. We may go off to X or T for 4 years but we still belong in our parishes for most of our lives. Like it or not, we are in the same family. When a kid from my parish who is third string doesn't even get into a game that is 55-3, I am more concerned about the kid. I fully believe if you are a great football star, go to Trinity. If you are part of the other 90%, just a average kid with basic skills, it may not be the best place. Getting a ring when you don't play seems a bit empty IMHO. I know a kid from our parish that chose Trinity because he wanted a ring. He got one last year. He's not playing this year because of games like this Seneca game.

My son was one of those average kids. He played for three head coaches. Coach Beatty did a better job of getting kids into the games than either of the other two. All three were good coaches and good men, but Coach Beatty did a better job of getting kids into the games. I keep seeing X posters that try to make this charge against Coach Beatty. It just doesn't wash with me based on experience. I also attend nearly all Trinity games. Are there times when I would go to the bench a little earlier? Yes there are, but in general there is always a reason and I'll trust Coach Beatty's judgement.

Sure. I must have missed your comments on the DeSales and Holy Cross participation logs.

How does Trinity keep continue to win state titles if what you say is true?

How many "great football stars" has Trinity had since Beatty arrived 8 years ago? 4? 6? In fact, I believe X and Male have had more D-I talent than Trinity, so I don't think your theory holds much weight.

We'll continue on as we've done every year and see how it ends up in December, or November for some schools.

That's the great thing about our country, if kids/parents are truly upset at the way Trinity does things, they'll go elsewhere. It seems like X should have won a bunch of titles after 2000, when the disgruntled parents/kids decided to go to X, after Beatty's first year.

You must have been a "great football star" because I know about 60 "average" kids in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006 that would disagree with you. That statement is antithetical to everyone and everything I know about the X program and Coach Glaser's philosophy. I bet the "average" kids on X's 2004 team would take offense to that statement as well.

Believe it or not, by stating this you are belittling the efforts of this kid. Go back through the years, we rarely have superstars, just solid football players who gave it all for 3 years at their one shot at glory. Now, under the current system we are starting to see more and more underclassmen getting considerable clock. I know many, many of these kids, and the stories of dis-content for not playing, are not as prevelent as your post "suggests". These kids trust Coach Beatty and Coverdale, and staff. Do the younger kids want to play? Sure....but guess what, they likely will get some clock this week, and the next couple of weeks as well.

I do not want to get in a he-said, she-said debate about Trinity and X. Both teams sub or don't sub as they see fit. I will say under Beatty we have had considerable more blowouts than before, which helps to even discuss participation. Just as I am sure there are Trinity folks that get disgruntled when "Johnny" doesn't get on the field, there are some Xaverians in the same boat. It is impossible to make 100+ kids, 200+ parents, 1,000s + fans happy all at once.

^ We scored that last touchdown with 1:35 left, and with a backup QB and backup WR....nothing wrong with that. We had our starters out in the 3rd quarter of last year's game.

While your memory may have been what you said, the reality is much different.

Yeah. It was two seconds left instead of the last play of the game. Sounds like there are some sour grapes over something behind the scenes that we don't get to see, such as player voting or something.

^ Why don't you dig up the posts....and see how upset the backup WR, QB, and OL was.

True statement and you know that says alot coming from me. As you know, there is nothing Coach B could really ever do to make me happy.:lol::lol:

By the way...Nice job Rocks on the win! :thumb:

:D . . .

I checked out the stats from last week at http://www.geocities.com/trinityshamrock/ and it appears that the first team offense played only 5 plays in the second half, given the running clock. I can't understand why anyone with the slightest knowledge about football and football coaching/preparation for playoffs, would even suggest that it was a mistake or mean spirited, etc. to play the starting O for 5 plays.

Further, I saw coach Beatty and coach Dover shaking hands and talking on the field after the game and it appeared to me that both men were very civil and respectfull of one another and each other's team.

Lastly, how about the players who have waited their turn for so many years and play only 5 plays in a half? None of them gripe or complain, so why should people from some other school?

People that don't get it never will.
