St. X, Trinity recruiting alleged: Southern Indiana schools complaining

Featured Replies

Hey Tony...Whats up with Tony Danza anyway?

I have a son who wants to go to TMS or Barrett and on to Male. He plays sports and and if he turns out to be pretty good at sports I don't want anyone from any school talking to him.

We have to appy by January 4th to see if he gets selected. A/B student.

If not selected we can try every year while in middle school. Still not in we will be fine where ever we choose

Nice response. I have a question. The reponse stated no Pulic Schools. That statement got me thinking what are the rules at csaa games. What I am asking is what are the rules with regard to coaches wearing appearal from the school they represent and talking to the players after the games? Would this constitute a breaking of KHSAA rules.

Now that is a strong statement indeed. It essentially calls Clark County liars and the article a farce.

I hope Saint Xavier has all the facts in the case, because it's hard to maneuver away from "NO Saint Xavier High School coach has attended ANY middle school football game held in Southern Indiana".

I noticed St. Xavier and Trinity both have icons on BGP you can click on for free stuff or be sent to their web sites. If I am a middle schooler and click on these is this recruiting? I see by literally interpreting the rules this probably is recruiting. I coach many middle school sports and often wear my alma mater apparel. This too is by rule recruiting is it not?

This is what I mean when I say we have to define "recruiting"..... I dont have the answer to satisfy all parties, but, somehow, somewhere, all sides need to come to an agreement of what is acceptable and what is not.

I can see NO interpretation of KHSAA rules where either would be considered illegal recruiting.

I did not read in the St. X response that they called anyone liars. I think St. X was defending itself against these allegations. Yes, a firm statement on St. X's behalf is appropriate. Anytime an individual or institution is attached by unsubstainiated claims in the general media, without proven facts, it is essentially "hearsay". However, given that it was in the paper, people believe it must be true..... So, If one wants to pursue, do some true investigative reporting, gather facts and bring charges forth... If unable to to so or unwilling, then issue a statement of apology to the St. X community. Becareful, you have two feet aswell...

157, I can't believe the paper would print this story if there wasn't some smoke. The child maybe had a mixed view of it so I'm not too sure about him. I can't believe a X coach would do that out in front of others, but 157 something is there. Maybe they are frustrated about the Finch kid, who knows. I know I was frustrated when I heard of the 12 counties of kids against our two we were playing against.

I for one am not surprised by this at all.

St. X, Trinity recruiting alleged

Some Southern Indiana school administrators say Louisville high school football powerhouses are recruiting Clark County middle school athletes, and they want it stopped.

Tony Bennett, the Greater Clark County Schools superintendent, said he is sending a protest letter today to St. Xavier and Trinity, as well as the high school athletic associations in both states.

No way!

And I liked X's response. If you are innocent then say so. And they did.

Interesting situation. If the event occurred and no where has it been indicated that it did not occur, someone is claiming or representing themselves as a ST. X coach when they are not.

Wait, you mean that the JC(Jefferson County)PS that you support has kids on it from two counties? Someone should alert the media to this! (plenty of sarcasm...)

Do you think Southern or Bullitt Central are angry that they only have kids from one county, when your school, Male, has kids from two counties? Should they be upset?

Is it really that big of a deal if we have kids from 12 counties, you have kids from two and some other schools have them from just one? Not in my book.

LBBC, the problem lies in the fact that there are no facts to back this up. I could just as easily say to the Courier-Journal that my son was approached by the head coach at PRP, and was told that he was the best running back in the city and wanted my son to play for him. There is no evidence of this occuring, but it's just as possible as the scenario in the newspaper.
