St. X, Trinity recruiting alleged: Southern Indiana schools complaining

Featured Replies

"We're certainly … not going to provide a haven for parochial schools in Kentucky or parochial schools in Indiana -- or any private schools -- to talk to our student-athletes."

  • I read this to say they allow public schools to "talk".

"The student said that a representative from a private school over in Louisville approached him after a game up at Highland Hills and made a comment: 'Hey, you played a good game,' and told him they would be in touch with him," Laughner said.

  • If true, it's illegal. If Saint Xavier made/makes "contact" from this, it's hammer time.

Valentine said the player couldn't recall the adult's name but said the adult identified himself as a St. X coach and was wearing St. X apparel.

  • Coaches from a bunch of schools cruise games in their clothing.

"I will certainly investigate," St. X athletic director Alan Donhoff said yesterday, adding that if he found violations, he "would deal with such involvement swiftly and harshly."

  • Interesting. I see the KHSAA getting involved in this report.

I don't get paid by either school!

You do, but you don't...

And neither do parents...

NO...I do not! Everything thing that I do is paid by my company. The school does not give us a dime.

So my opinion as a parent can't be stated to a potential student/parent for one of these schools?

Can you be seen as a representative of the school? Whether you are being paid or not?

I think they could make the case that you could be seen that way.

Less than two years ago a Greater Clark County school official made a published charge in the Voice-Tribune stating that a Clark County middle school student was on the St. Xavier sideline at the state championship game in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. This published report was proven to be a complete fabrication. Is this another fabrication from the same mind?

FYI: The athlete mentioned in the story attended Catholic elementary and middle school and played in the Louisville Catholic School Athletic Association before enrolling at St. X.

So your company does the things for the school for free?

Does your company sell advertisements for that game? They make money, because of X. You're the contact for that...

It's really touchy, that's why I don't like the way the rules stated but I get why the KHSAA has to have it. A parent that does not have a kid participating in athletics, may be able to get by with talking to a few kids. IF, that person was never contacted by the coaching staff to do so.

Besides that, I think the KHSAA would find you as "part" of the program. However, it is open to KHSAA's interpretation so...

I get what your saying but I don't buy it.

While I know I am well known in the community due to my job...if someone truly picks one of these schools because I said so...well then I think we are all in BIG trouble.:lol::lol::lol:

See 2nd sentence of post #38 :lol::lol::lol:

Is it legal for JCPS to have recruitment of athletic students for the schools "traditional" program? Its just a question. Not a newspaper article..... What are the thoughts of posters on this site????

If I move to Jefferson County, you and some others on here would be the people I would come to in choosing what schools to send my children to.

J/K. I would seriously give it a lot of consideration.

That is a tricky issue and why open enrollment leads to a lot of issues, innuendos, problems, rumors, etc, etc, etc.

And even though I am a staunch supporter of vouchers, I understand that those would create the same.

^ Good point, maybe an APB is needed.....

As most of you know I love putting out a APB on BGP to get the real FYI!

So here it is.......

This person has been identified as the coach at this said game! To thicken the plot even more...the said coach was not even male but a HOTT looking female!!:scared::laugh::scared:

Now we must move our discussion to the precieved benefits of having a Hottie as an admission counsler over the traditional overweight male administrator.....:lol::lol:

I for one would think this is an unfair playing field.
