November 13, 200718 yr HSSB was calling him a moron, no more...no less... Correct. Dummies don't succeed at QB in Today's NFL. Too complex, too much to learn. Broken sand-lot plays don't win games on Sundays. I wasn't trying to be subtle.
December 12, 200718 yr Author An update: VY's stats are going up, but the wins are getting scarce. Last 4 games: 74.0 QB Rating 79 for 124 (63.7%) for 920 yards 3 TD's and 6 INT's He does have 20 rushes for 126 yards and 1 TD Sacked 6 times and has 2 fumbles (1 lost) Also, this year he has yet to win a game when the opposing team scores 20 or more points.
December 12, 200718 yr ^ he can't run between the tackles, and make a career out of it. I'm not saying you are wrong because that very well might be the truth. That is also what they said about a guy like Warrick Dunn.
December 12, 200718 yr Did his team not score only 6 points against the BENGALS? I guess that's because of everyone else beside him right?
December 14, 200718 yr If wins is the only significant number that you can bring to the table, that's weak. Football is way too much of a team sport for that... Besides, everyone knows defense wins in the NFL. NFL Ranks: Rushing: 4th Rush Defense: 3rd Defensive Points: 6th BTW, Passing: 30th  And you said I was losing credibility with each post. This takes the cake.
December 14, 200718 yr How has he done as the feature back? Who knows, he's been playing hurt. My opinion is he is a Metcalf/Meggett type of back but it's not unheard of for a small back to be the feature back. It's not the norm but it's not out of the relm either.
August 17, 200917 yr Author Yeah, the Titans were doing such a great job of winning before VY got there...I guess it takes a certain type of QB before a team can win in spite of him...otherwise the Titans could have stuck with Kerry Collins and spent the pick on someone else and won in spite of him instead of Young. You may end up being right about Vince Young, but as of now, it's too early to tell, IMO. Fisher and the Titans have been through this process before, turning an athletic, running QB with a lot of raw ability into a very good NFL QB (Steve McNair)...I think they know what they're doing. Add a guy who has a stellar track record with QB's (Norm Chow) and I'll take my chances. I wouldn't be so quick to close the book on Young... ...but, you can keep on if you want...I just hope you're still around when I get to say, "I told you so." The only reason that I enjoy doing this is because A) your NFL knowledge and analysis is impressive and spot-on; B) my track record for being right on this website in Pro and College Sports is miserable; and C) because you said the bolded. Vince Young isn't good at quarterback, and his teams won in spite of him.

Vince Young isn't good at quarterback, and his teams won in spite of him. Geez. Somebody else has already resurrected this discussion and spoonfed me my crow. I can't re-live it again. Vince Young played pretty good as a rookie and then regressed. I was ticked off when Tennessee drafted him, then I had to convince myself that it might work out, then he played well as a rookie, then they made the playoffs in his second year (in spite of him, as you say), then it all fell apart...now I'm back to being ticked off that they picked him in the first place. (Of course, it doesn't look Matt Leinart would have been any better.) And, two final points... 1. My analysis is spot-on? I would suggest you dig up some of my annual NFL prediction threads. On second though, don't. 2. Vince's career isn't over.
August 17, 200917 yr Wow 5, they had to go back 2 years to attempt to get you. Pretty impressive:thumb:
August 17, 200917 yr I must toot my own horn and say I sounded like I knew what I was talking about. Sadly for VY, my prediction has come true. And as far as Fisher is concerned, he has escaped any turmoil thanks to cool hand Collins under center (and a top 5 defense and solid run game hasn't hurt). Of course this was all before anyone knew that Vince's wheel was turning, but the hampster was dead. And for what it's worth, 5 is IMO the sharpest tack in the pro football threads.
