October 10, 200718 yr Probably not new, but what does ESPN or Tennessee see in him? Other than that he can run, he's no good. Have you watched him play this season? Do you even watch football? Sorry, I just have to get those questions out of the way, in light of this first post.
October 10, 200718 yr Good enough for me :thumb: The Titans are 9-2 in their last 11 games with Vince under center. I don't really need to give their record in the prior couple of years, do I? Does he stink because he had one bad game? I mean it's not like he threw 5 picks and lost a fumble against a defense that has 5 or 6 starters on IR.
October 10, 200718 yr Author Have you watched him play this season? Do you even watch football? Sorry, I just have to get those questions out of the way, in light of this first post. Once or twice. Yes I have. What I am trying to get across it that he gets way too much credit for their wins and he is vastly overrated. I guess keeping up with Indy was impressive this year, but other than that he has beat three bad teams (ok, maybe JAX is average where he put up 13 points) and obviously his stats from last year are pretty bad. Maybe I'm wrong (as everyone seems to think), I just don't think this guy will pan out to be anything in the NFL.
October 10, 200718 yr Author BTW this is hardly relevant but I just read that Vince Young gets paid more than Tom Brady. Is that crazy or what?
October 10, 200718 yr If he keeps winning without a lot of talent around him, .... it will be harder and harder to call this 2nd year QB out as one who 'stinks'. I think he is a winner. I do agree that Young making more than Brady is wrong IMHO. Granted, Brady had more talent and a GREAT coach with him, but he also has 3 rings. I think Jamarcus Russell makes as much as Young and I don't even know how much he has played. I think they are paying these high draft picks WAY too much before they prove they can perform.
October 10, 200718 yr Fantasy QB - I agree he stinks and probably always will. I made a huge mistake drafting him in a couple leagues. NFL QB - he's a winner and that's all you want out of your QB
October 10, 200718 yr Vince is a winner and as long as he keeps leading the Titans to victory I could care less what everyone thinks of him. And as long as Coach Fischer is in Nashville I like Tennessee's chances of being successful. Then he had better step it up. 4 playoff trips in 12 years if I'm not mistaken. But someone must agree with you, didn't he recently sign an extension?

Then the Titans traded off all the talent and now hes got them back rolling again. The recent playoff drought has nothing to do with coaching!
October 10, 200718 yr He built the program up. Then the Titans traded off all the talent and now hes got them back rolling again. The recent playoff drought has nothing to do with coaching! Tell that to Dennis Green, Marty Schottenhimer (sp?) and such. He'd have been gone in most franchises for far less a drought.
October 10, 200718 yr Something that occurred to me, that i feel is very interesting....the "heralded" class that all of these kids came from are mostly struggling. It truly is interesting: Mario Williams - actually playing very well Reggie Bush - exposed Vince Young - wins, but ugly Matt Leinart - nothing special LenDale White - fat, and horrible

You have a right to your opinion, but the fact is, the Titans have gone from a bottom feeder to a playoff contender since Vince got there and they started winning almost as soon as he was named the starter. If they're more talented than some say (as you suggest), then at the least that points to what everyone has been saying about Vince...he is a leader, he gets his teammates to bring it and he elevates their play. The Titans offense isn't designed for a guy to roll up stats...it is designed to control the ball, grind the clock and wear teams down. That's why their games are usually close and relatively low scoring...and what Vince does most of the time is make the plays they need late in the game to get the win. He has plenty of room to improve for sure, but he's already made some big strides and he looks pretty good to me. So what if he had a bad game against Atlanta...Romo had a worse game against Buffalo...does he stink too? Vince Young is fine...I'm sure he'll always have people who think he's no good or overrated, but he'll win most of them over at some point, or make them look stupid.
October 10, 200718 yr There is a difference in winning because of your QB and winning in spite of your QB...
October 10, 200718 yr There is a difference in winning because of your QB and winning in spite of your QB... Yeah, the Titans were doing such a great job of winning before VY got there...I guess it takes a certain type of QB before a team can win in spite of him...otherwise the Titans could have stuck with Kerry Collins and spent the pick on someone else and won in spite of him instead of Young.

If wins is the only significant number that you can bring to the table, that's weak. Football is way too much of a team sport for that... Besides, everyone knows defense wins in the NFL. NFL Ranks: Rushing: 4th Rush Defense: 3rd Defensive Points: 6th BTW, Passing: 30th
