Middle School Basketball

The bottom right bracket is by far the most challenging bracket! There are 7 or 8 ligitimate teams that could get to the final four: Shelby West, Wayne Co., S. Laurel, Whitley Co., Meece, Scott Co., LTMS, or Highlands. Not to mention Northern has improved over the year and a team from Louisville that no one knows about. I do not expect the state champion to come from this bracket because they will have used all of there energy just to get there.

That is a very tough bracket and that is why it is essential for Highlands to win that first game which will be very tough.

I also think PC will hve their hands full with Clay Co if they advance that far. They look very big. :scared:

Never count the chickens before they hatch though.

It will be interesting to see what the teams from western ky have. We know nothing about them, yet when they get to high school they are solid organizations (ie Christian Co.).

I like Knox Co. out of the lower left bracket. I also think they have the best chance to win the state tournament. I also predict that the winner of the LTMS/ Highlands game will make it to Sunday to play Knox Co.

Where is Knox Co? Eastern KY? What type of squad do they have?

The top left bracket is the second toughest bracket IMO. If Bryan Station has Trigg and Morton then that would remind me of the old Lex Blaze teams that were always tough in AAU. I would have to give them the team to beat out of that bracket. But, they will have a very tough road getting there having to play (possibly) Georgetown in the second round, Lincoln Co. in the 3rd round and Hazard in the quarter finals.

Southeast Ky in Barbourville (Union College). Go south on Hwy 75, get off at the Corbin exit and go 30 mile east.

They are the best team that Meece has played this year. They may have had the best game of their lives against us, but they beat us by 14.:irked:

They have good size and a guard (#23) that dominated the game scoring 36 pts.

Clay Co. has lost their starting PG. this will hurt them some. I don't think it will be like South Laurel, losing their PG Sanders. South, lost one of their better bigs in the middle this past week also.

I hate South, is not going to be 100% coming into the Middle School State Tournament. South, has not been a 100% all year, 4 of their starts have been hurt or sick all year. Not a good situation for, this years Cards to be as competitive as last years team. The Cards won State BCI, and State USSSA at Hoops. With a 41 and 2 record last years record. With key wins over New Castle, IN, PC, Lex Cath, Hazard 3 times, Wayne Co. twice, Meece 2 out of 3 and 2 big wins over the Louisville Prodigy with Snyder and Quick. Their only losses was to The G-Town Thunder at a Thanksgiving Tournament and Meece, at Meece.

South, is the type of team that is like a puzzle, if their missing a piece of that puzzle it hurts them. They are a very quick and athletic group of kids. The most athletes group of 7th graders 1 thur 10 I've seen, in the state. They don't have a lot of skilled basketball players just athletes. Sanders is a big part of their offense and makes them hard to press. Sears, Radar and Byrd is their next best skilled players next to Sanders. Sears and Radar are about 80% with knee and hip injuries. South, should be competitive and play hard but as short handed as they are with 2 starts out, it will been a tough road for South Laurel.

Good luck Cards!!!!!!!!:dancingpa

:fight::fight:

Summit View rolled over Turkeyfoot tonight 64-27. High scoring honors were shared by Sampson (22) and Huesman (40) with 16 each. Didn't seem to be missing McClendon much...they moved the ball extremely well and played the usual solid "D". Everyone with a jersey on scored for the Jags.

mcclendon will be missed. I don't think summitview will make very far without him

From what i understand McClendon wasn't failing any of his classes. He has 3 A's 2 B's 2 C's. So i don't think any of you kno this kid or the situation that is going on. To even speak as if you know this young man personally.

Georgetown Middle is awful in 7th. You don't have to worry about them.

What rules? I assume you mean by-laws. This is middle school basketball!

Im almost postive he's talking BGP rules. A little too much information about a named student. Doesnt matter at this point, correct me if I am wrong but teams cannot add after 3rd game. Period.

Black, that is too bad. I always hate hearing about injuries so I wish the SL boys the best of luck with the banged up lineup. Highlands has had their fair share of injuries as well to 3 of their top 9 players. SL sounds like a very good group though and will be fun to watch in the coming years. Never say die this year !
