SHS Future,

You guys should not have any problems.

Bracken is a very nice steady club. I think they have some good players in Ray, Riggs and Crawford. There probably is a Hamilton or Cooper in the bunch also j/k :D They are solid and will play hard and aggressive till the final horn.

Thanks HOOPDR. :thumb:

if you can listen a little to thegame, you will hear as much excitement as a high school game. We play the game at Johnson Central High and the gym will be packed.

The brackets are posted for the 7th grade state tournament. Who has the toughest route to the championship. Who has the easiest. Give me your bracketology.

Sharp MS--Pendleton County plays Spencer County in their opening game.

Hard to say not knowing the teams very well. I will say this for Highlands, they need to win on Friday vs. LTMS because if they dont they will be facing a very good Scott County team in their first game in the brackets. Not to mention having to play another winner if they beat Scott Co and then possibly Meece. That is a brutal road so they are going to have to do whatever they can to win. If they can knock off LTMS then they will have a much easier road. Not to mention South Laurel and Wayne Co are all in that lower right hand bracket. That will be the strongest bracket of them all.

IMO, no matter how the Birds do in the tournament they will have faced very good competition and no patsys.

I'd say Clay Co has a pretty good situation though.Going out on a limb and predicting a final four just from glancing at the brackets and who I think might win. Hazard/Knox Co on the left and Clay Co/Scott Co on the right. Finals Knox Co and Clay Co. Winner Knox Co.

Summit View beat Blessed Sacrament last night 55-19. Everyone in a Jag uniform scored, as it wasn't much of a contest. SV lead 19-2 at the end of the first, then cruised. Leading scorers were Huesman and Eric Pouncy. Glad the weather held off, so their game tonight against CC Purple and Woodland tomorrow will go on as planned.

Highlands defeated Newport 39-25 last night at home in front of a huge crowd. It was nice to have the High School band playing and a ton of the student body come out. Newport has improved a lot since the last time these two teams met when Highlands won by 20+. All 16 kids saw the floor for Highlands led by Karl Hinkle's 3 bombs from downtown. Witte had a good game knocking down a couple 3's and dishing out several nice assists. Nick True the 6'2 big fella also played well, he really has nice hands for a big kid should be interesting to see this kid develop. Doctors are saying he will grow to 6'9 and he just turned 12 two months ago.

Keep us posted on the Summit V / CC Purple game and Woodland game tomorrow fellas.

Any word on McClendon and TRMS as far as him still playing or ruled ineligible? I heard that there was a rule that after your 3rd game of the season you cannot add to your roster. This may eliminate all of this discussion and put it to bed.

The way the 6th and 7th grade purple teams have played the last two games they couldn't beat Summitview's kindegarten teams right now. Moronic coaching and silly play by inexperienced players.

Last night at Highlands Mddle School was great. Their student body came out in force and there was a nice cermony prior to the 8th grade game where the players gave the 8th grade cheerleaders flowers -- I assume this was because it was their last home game cheering. The game between the 7th grade was a good game -- I beleve that at half time it was 12 to 18 HMS. Newport threw up some bad shots that might have benefited them in the course of the game. Guilkey an Baldwin were making some nice shots and some good defense. Some other players for newport that were showing some hustle was #40, #30 #32 (sorry can't remember the kids name). But Newport has improved alot -- even without their point guard. HMS players just kept coming in an out which was a good job by Butler. Newport unfortunately didn't have that ability to sub with force. But hey gryche11 I saw you there in the wave of blue -- sorry didn't get a chance to talk so -- I hope you are doing well.

The Newport boys did play hard and they gave it their all. Guilkey is a hard nosed kid who goes to the basket hard. If he can get better control once in the lane he will be a good one but has a very quick first step and very strong. Baldwin hit some nice shots, the kiss off the glass to end one of the periods was impressive and he shoots Free Throws well. The Birds were just too deep for the Cats. They had a couple kids come off the bench like Hinkle and just rain 3's, I think Collinsworth hit a couple as well. Dupont played only a few minutes for the Birds with a taped up wrist, he still needs to get his legs back from being injured.

Killer, sorry I didnt look for ya, I was busy doing video/photos and 6 minute periods are just too darn short IMO. Games just fly by.

I agree those 6 minute periods do go by fast. But I will talk to you later. And keep me posted on that spring team.

If Pendleton wins their first game I like their chances to make a final four run in the upper right bracket.

Pendleton Co. 's biggest challenge is going to be in the second round vs Clay Co. The winner of that game will go to the final four IMO.
