September 24, 200719 yr I am going to be honest. I thought that if he didnt show alot of improvement last year, which he did, he should have been fired. Although it really wasnt fair considering UK just got all of its schollys back a couple years ago. Brooks has done a great job at UK the past 2 season, and depending how this season turns out, could determine if he gets bigger and better offers. Although I would like to see him stay and continue to build on what he has so far.:thumb:

This is so bad, its not worth wasting my electons on (in typing the same ole case....) I have been a fan of Uk football sense I was a little kid and I am tired of the same old song and dance. September 24, 200719 yr Interesting quote from LABS... Kragthorpe from Tulsa would be a good candidate. I wonder how many UK fans would prefer Kragthorpe over Brooks right now.

September 24, 200719 yr I am proud to say that I supported him. However, even I didn't see them playing at this level as a long time Cats football fan, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing this level of football from UK week to week since the late 1970's. Although I didn't see the 'Cats play in the 70s, I can "ditto" the rest of the comment.
September 24, 200719 yr Although I didn't see the 'Cats play in the 70s, I can "ditto" the rest of the comment. Just rub it in! I can remember Derrick Ramsey and the like at UK. I have always LOVED UK football and must say that as a fan I couldn't be happier than I am right now. BTW, I was a small child at the time!
September 24, 200719 yr I went on record here last year stating the fact that I was wrong about being critical about Brooks. Now, I realize that I was REALLY wrong about Coach Brooks,, Kudos to our beloved coach!:thumb:
September 24, 200719 yr There was a loud chorus chanting for his firing. I think all programs could learn a lesson. Consistancy is what build programs. I have fully admitted that I was one of them and I also have accepted my serving of Crow......with a litte hot sauce or BBQ sauce please.
September 25, 200719 yr Here's one to ponder on. How many that are singing Brooks praises now will be calling for his head if he were to have a bad year next year? Seems to be the nature of that beast if you are a head coach.

Seems to be the nature of that beast if you are a head coach. Some will, I won't... Then again I'm not exactly singing his praises either. He is having a great year (so far, I predict 4 losses which is a victory in itself) but so much talent will be lost off of this team that there is no way I can picture a scenario where UK maintains next season. I hope for success, but I'm a realist and I don't expect big things from UK next season as bad as it hurts me to say it. For now, however, I enjoy the ride.

However, even I didn't see them playing at this level as a long time Cats football fan, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing this level of football from UK week to week since the late 1970's. I was around to watch those teams from the late 70's and I think that what we have now is much more special than of what those teams acheived. If you take the time to look in the history books, Fran Curci had to cheat to get teams of that magnitude, and ultimately got Kentucky put on probation. Kudos to Coach Brooks for building a winner the right way.
September 25, 200719 yr My support for Brooks hasn't wavered since he came to UK, so I sure wouldn't flip if we had a down year next year. He's got us moving in the right direction, but it's hard to replace a heisman caliber QB at the University of Kentucky.

BTW, I was a small child at the time! I envy you because since birth I've longed for the 'Cats to be a football powerhouse in the way UK basketball is regarded. We may never live to see that day, but we can all dream, can't we??
