Kentucky 42 Arkansas 29

Well once again IMO it wasn't the smartest move. Yeah it looks great since it worked, but if that would have been an imcomplete pass right there, we would have saved Arkansas a timeout to use on third down. Which would have gave them plenty of time if we missed the field goal. I could maybe see doing that say if we were just up 5 and a field goal would only still keep it at a one possession game, however a field goal here also would have won it. So they very easily could have played to win by just running the ball as well and taking most of the time off the clock, and still have the chance to make it a 2 possession game...Yeah some of these coaching moves have not hurt us yet, which is great. However I very concerned that some of these coaching moves will eventually cost UK a game...

I've read several of your posts in this thread, and don't take this personally but you seem to be totally overanalyzing the coaching decisions in this game. It's one thing to critique a coach after the fact, it's another thing to make the call in the heat of the moment as the game is in progress. Even if the pass were incomplete, I would have understood the call from a coach who wanted to win instead of hold on for dear life. jmo.

If it works it works, and that makes it the right decision.... Case closed...

Hey dont get me wrong I am happy as can be. However it does concern me that one of these times it could end up costing UK a win. From what I have seen Coach Brooks doesn't look at the stuff that could happen. Just like last week against UL as well, that made no sense to not go for 2 in that situation, because just being up 6 means nothing at that point..Then comes the situations I have talked about today. Yeah so far things have ended up working out fine, and I hope they do, however I just afraid that one of these times it will catch up with us a cost us a game...

300+ yards rushing between McFadden and Jones. :scared:

I was getting ready to post the same thing. Usually a coach does not get second guessed this much when they win.

Well that is what coaches are suppose to do, to be able to make the decisions right away. Last week against UL just about everyone knew right after that, we should go for 2. Then in this game I have already gave me reasons, I know I thought about these things as soon as they happened...As for holding on to dear life. As I said it wasn't like we were only up 5 and the field goal would have only made it a one possession game still. We were up 6 so that field goal would have still put the game away for us. We were in field goal position, so why not run the ball which has been successful by the way, and make them use their last time out. Then on third down run it again, and make most of the time run off. Then you kick a field goal and if its good its a 2 possession game and its over still. Then if he missed, Arkansas still would have had 70 yards to go for a touchdown with a QB that can't pass the ball...So it definitely was not holding on for dear life in that possession...

I may be in the minority, but I can certainly live with that. I heard on some radio show that if UK held McFadden to around 250 yards they had a good chance to win... 250 yards!

:thumb: it's not always as easy as it seems in the "college football coaching for dummies" book...

I did no think we could go into a pretty good SEC teams home and win. After UL's loss today I really thought it but we did. UL and UK have switched places in the world of college football. How funny is that and who would of thought such 2 weeks ago. C A T S...Cats Cats Cats!!!

He got second guess last week too after the win, on not going for 2 after the touchdown...Yeah things have worked out fine the last two weeks still, but Im sorry I really dont want to see a coaching decision potentially lose a game for UK this year...I know I hope it all keeps working out just fine with the decisions he makes, however the decisions he makes have not been the smartest at all and very well could backfire big time in one of these games...

Maybe I'm alone, but I trust Woodson passing the ball over hoping UK can make a FG... The kicking game is too inconsistent.

I agree. They won that battle but lost the war.

Do you really want to rely on the UK field goal kicker to seal the victory? That is not exactly a guarantee based on what I've seen this year thus far. I think Brooks may have considered this also.;)

Think we could swap Seiber for Carmody? Any takers?

Well I definitely trust Woodson passing the ball and not throwing an interception. However I talking about an imcomplete pass in that situation. That would have stopped the clock and saved Arkansas one more timeout for the next play. As I said I know our field goal kicker might not have made it. However Arkansas would have been without any timeouts, and with not to much time left, and not to mention a QB who can't pass the ball. So our chances would have been pretty darn good then...Throwing the ball there and taking a chance of it being incomplete, or even worse getting sacked and fumbling would have really hurt obviously...As I said I glad it has all worked out, and we have still won. I just really hope we dont see a coaching decision end up costing UK a game that they would have won...

You are not alone my friend. Trust me.
