I admit I was wrong. Trinity apparently did have a chance and it was not a blow out. Very good showing by Trinity against a domiant St. X team.

Now I'd like to Trinity play, Elder, LaSalle, & Moeller, plus a few Cincinnati public schools like Colerain and Princeton in that order, that is the meatgrinder of the GCL South. I'm sure this was an important game for St. X, but not nearly as big as it was for Trinity.

 

St. X just played DeMatha from Maryland, and Glenville from Cleveland that were both natinally ranked. Plus they haven't even gotten into there GCL schedule whisc are huge rivalry games on the line of Louisville St.X / Trinity battles, then throw in Cleveland St. Ignatius or Lakewood St. Edward. No disrespect to Trinity, it's a different level of football and X may have been looking ahead. Your guys deserve alot of credit for coming up and battling a tough oppenent, by playing better competition will only make you better and you and Louisville St. X are still a class above and the measuring stick of Kentucky football.

Very Impressive T...I must say, you all were a testament, not only to your all's program, but to Kentucky football in general. You guys should be proud! I am extremely excited for Sept 28, should be a fun night.

Man, you are very high on your horse. W/ the exception of a meaningless last second int return for a TD, this is a 9 pt. game. In my opinion, w/ Trinity's depth they'd be battling Moeller and La Salle for #2 in the GCL right now. Everyone knows that OH has great football. Trinity showed that it could hang w/ OH's best, at their home field.

Play that calliber of oppenent every week. Nothing against Trinity, but they would be consistently the 3rd to 5th place the majority of the time if they were added to the GCL South and played the exact schedule. The wear and tear due to the upgraded copmpetition every week would be a major factor. It would be like Louisville playing in the SEC as compared to the Big East. Do you really believe Louisville would have lost only 1 game last year if they were in the SEC?

Sounds like the Rocks played a great game and had the lead for significant time during the game. From this thread, sound as if the T supports are pretty pleased with the performance and the resultant outcome. Contgrats on the "moral" victory and a game well played.

I was at a pee wee football game on Cincy's westside yesterday morning and overheard a few ST. X parents talking about how impressed they were with the Trinity team, especially the QB. One said thats the best QB we have seen in years. Trinity should be proud because ST. X cincy is a machine.

Thanks tcjkbt. If you look at Trinity's losses the past few years, you will see that we haven't run the ball well. Cincy X is a different beast. They played a college scheme defense and dropped their All American LB to safety in passing downs, with the option to roll him up to playside flats. We had no shot to run the ball last night, and I think we knew that.

One question that I have regarding play calling after T goes up 24-13. THe CJ said they went the next three series 3 and out. What did they call during those three series- pass or run? Did X made adjustments to what worked before and stopped them because to go from 11 up to 3 down in 3 series seems to be a big momentum switch. Or I read that penalties hurt them-was it during these 3 series?

I also saw this on another website in Cincinnati. From the T faithful, did he really do this? I know Will and he is a classy kid or is this overblown?

 

I noticed the QB taunting the student section or the X sidelines after each of the 1st half touchdowns and I was very surprised by this. I did not think a respected school like Trinity would allow this. Maybe the coaching staff did not see it but I think it woke X up - specifically the offense. They manhandles Trinity in the second half.

I don't recall specifically what was run or if it was the penalities at that juncture. Trinity was going into the wind that quarter, and I do remember a few passes that just died. We had no shot to run the ball all night.

 

Biggest play of the night was a 3rd and 2 from their own 28 trailing 24-13, X's running back is hit for no gain, but makes a great second effort and gets the first down. Two plays later, it's a 60 yard touchdown pass and momentum is back with X. If Trinity holds there, they may win the game.

 

Second biggest play was the pick at X's 30 on 1st and 10 while only down 34-24. Once again, score there and it's a one possession game. X got the momentum back and never let up. Kudos to them.

Did the Rocks sustain any injuries in this game?? If they came out injury free, they should be pleased...

Good observation RT. We stepped up, accepted the challenge and lost to one of the best teams in the nation. Coach Lampley scheduled them for a reason. No team in Kentucky will play a team as good as them all season. I hope all of the pretenders overlook us as the quest for 18 resumes this Friday. "GO ROCKS"

Wow... I am surprised Trinity played as well as they did. They must have some team this year... I highly doubt that any other KY team could hang in with Cincy Saint X this year as well as Trinity did! That may be the best game Saint X gets all year (at least in the regular season).
