What if she forgets about a child she is "suppose to be watching". I would not want her in charge of me or my children.

I don't remember that being part of the story. I remember it saying when she arrived she made several trips in and out while unloading but nothing about coming back several times during the day.

You may be right...Im not re-reading it to check. Mabey I just interpreted the story that way. Regardless, its a terrible thing. Is there a husband and has he been quoted in any way? I mean, Im married and have three children and if, God forbid, something like that happened to my wife, there would be no question in my mind that it was a terrible accident. There has to be more to this story than what we know so far.

She made a horrible lack of good judgement in her actions, but I'm not sure that they are sufficient enough to meet the legal defination of murder.

In my mind, she did it all the time and had been warned about it...reckless, negligent, incompetent behavior over a period of time...And no, I don't buy a mother, any mother no matter how busy, not thinking about her infant child ONCE all day long...But, I'm not trying to argue that she is guilty of a crime, although I think she is. I'm arguing that she should not have a job that involves being in charge of children.

I am sure that all of those people who kill someone in car crashes did not intentionally mean to kill them. Is that murder in your book?

 

If she intentionally left the child in the car to die, that is another whole different ball game. But the prosecutor and he is the one that has viewed all the evidence, does not feel she intentionally left the child in the car to see them die.

You read about bus drivers being reprimanded or fired when a child falls asleep on a bus and they overlook the child until the bus run is over. If this was someone elses child she would be facing some sort of discipline, but since it's her own, and I'm sure she's heartbroken nothing is being done. Just doesn't seem right to me.

I dont' think she should lose her job, but I feel strongly that she should resign. By fighting for her job, she just reenforces the impression that her job was more important than her children. And how could you go to work every day knowing that you killed your child there?

I cant believe any of you think she should keep her job. Come on here 8 hours she left the kid in a hot car, not 5 minutes not to run inside 8 hours a full work day. That is murder in my eyes. Teachers lose thier job for alot of dumb things, a DUI, affairs, cursing, etc....all minor compared to leaving a kid in the car for 8 hours.

Absolutely I work in the education field. I would be long gone for a lot less than this. Good thing Is I don't leave my kids in the car alone. Guys it is 8 hours on August 23rd, do you know how hot it was that day? This person is an idiot cut and dried.
