The West Clermont school board wouldn't take any comments from the public Monday about Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby, and it took no action on her job status.

But that didn't stop more than 60 people at the board meeting from arguing heatedly about the assistant principal's future.

They talked while the board met in closed session.

Nesselroad-Slaby, assistant principal of Glen Este Middle School, is on paid administrative leave after she left her 2-year-old daughter, Cecilia, in a hot car Aug. 23 outside school. The child, who was in the car eight hours, died.

Me too. Isn't it the legal system's job to punish her and not the schools?

NO.

Sad situation, but yes.

It is and they dropped the ball on this one.

Accident or not.

It's the school's job to hire people who are competent in caring for children.

I vote "NO" but I can certainly understand a yes vote as well. With her job being that which is in a school system that is in charge of protecting and being responsible for kids and she is guilty of this kind of thing. ......... . Sad situation all around.

Ironically, it was her overwhelming concern for her job at the school that distracted her and led her to make this horrible mistake.

Ironically, it was her overwhelming concern for her job at the school that distracted her and led her to make this horrible mistake.

That's one way to put it.

Another way would be that she returned to her car many times during the day and was previously warned by other teachers about her reckless practice of leaving her child unattended in her car.

^^ I agree. Your kids come first, she should get canned.

I voted yes. She can't even take care of her own kid why put hundreds of kids in her hands? Are you kidding me. If they keep her on and my kids was going to school there they would be taken out and going somewhere else the next day. Think if this was some lady in OTR we would all be screaming for her head.

I voted no, because it is not the schools responsibility.

Geez, I voted "no" but after reading some posts I'm thinking I'm only 51% certain.
