I've now said this 4 or 5 times...the article said she had been repeatedly warned by other teachers about her reckless practice of leaving her child unattended in her car...this was her regular behavior...it's tragic that the baby died, but in no was was it an accident that the woman left her child unattended in her car...

I would have to vote with reassignment to a different school, perhaps after taking some time off. It is not up to the school system to punish her.

 

However, I found the comment made by a student on TV last night very interesting. She said "What if someone gets sent to her office for forgetting to do their homework?" You would have to wonder what a student's response might be.

When I first saw this, I assumed that she thought her child was somewhere else, but after reading the story I find it impossible that anyone is that absent minded. It was reported that she returned to her car several times during the day...how could she have missed her 2 year old in a car seat? I dont want to cast the first stone but something just doesnt add up.

I truly am sorry that her child is dead and I do think that she will suffer forever for being responsible for that death. I don't know what the legal aspect of her actions are but I do know that I don't think she's responsible enough to be in charge of children and IMO she should be relieved of her duties. If a student does something to another child, in school, that causes harm to that child, that child can be asked to leave school. I don't think that you can ask more from a student than you do a teacher.

She made a horrible lack of good judgement in her actions, but I'm not sure that they are sufficient enough to meet the legal defination of murder.

This woman is in a position of authority and is supposed to be a role model, do you look up to her? Is she someone you want to be like? One more thing, how would this case been handled if she was poor and left her kid in the car while she worked her shift at pizza hut???

Me too. Isn't it the legal system's job to punish her and not the schools?

How many teachers have been fired for posing nude... Which happens to be legal and considerably less harmful

I don't remember that being part of the story. I remember it saying when she arrived she made several trips in and out while unloading but nothing about coming back several times during the day.

I can see having her removed from her position. The fact that she had been warned about leaving her child in the car previously and yet did it again (I don't believe it was intentional) tells me that she is probably not qualified to a)lead children b)lead an educational institution and c)makes poor choices overall.

 

I'd have to remove her.

She made a tragic mistake and will have to live with that for the rest of her life.

 

The prosecutor found no grounds to file charges.

 

Simply put it's none of the school boards business.

While the act was criminal, it doesn't have bearing on her duties as an administrator.

Ironically, it was her overwhelming concern for her job at the school that distracted her and led her to make this horrible mistake.

 

True and that is the way a lot of people feel about their jobs. Jobs first and family later.
