Why do you cheer for the teams you do?

I guess I kinda became a Nebraska fan while watching them in the Orange Bowl in 94. They lost to FSU that game but they became my team after that. Then after that they went on a huge run winning back to back national titles and 3 in a 4 year stretch which included the best college football team of all time (95 huskers). If you think USC has a dynasty now, Nebraska's run thru the 90's was even better. Absolutely loved watching Tommie Frazier play QB and he became my favorite player ever.

After learning more and more about the history of NU football and its fan base Im absolutely positive I couldnt pick a better team to root for. There's no place like Nebraska!

Also root for UK because im a KY boy after all and I feel the same way about UK basketball as I do about NU football.

I was raised in a Notre Dame / UL home. I went away to UK for college, graduated, and now I BLEED BLUE!

This is prime example of someone that has came from a troubled childhood and dysfunctiuonal home and had risen above it :D . You should be an inspiration to any young people today that may be in the same and very tragic situation. :p :thumb:

Me too. I remember my favorite player being Tommy Clements:thumb:

Mine was Terry Hanratty (passing to Jim Seymour!)

During my childhood I spent 4 years in "The Holy Land" (otherwise known as South Bend, IN). So THAT explains my loyalty there.

Moved to St. Louis in the 5th grade and developed my love for the BASEBALL Cardinals (starting with their victory over Carl Yastremsky and the Red Sox).

Is there any other color than blue? I've never known of any and that's the way it'll always be.

College Football

1. Penn State - because Joe Pa does it right and there is something about them that caught my eye at a young age.

2. Louisville - Something about a program that struggled and has built themselves up to where they are

2b. Georgia - My mom was born in ATL and my grandfather is Georgia all the way through

4. Marshall/UK - Live 1 hour away from Huntington, know people who were to be on the plane and didn't go and watch Ae Are Marshall ...... UK - Fell I have to root for them and born and raised here.....

College Basketball

I don't feel like getting flamed so no reasoning but it goes Louisville, UK, and Florida...........and any team Bobby Knight and if he ever comes back Tark coaches

I can certainly agree on Paterno doing things right. All Class. :thumb:

I cheer for Notre Dame in football, because I grown up with my dad as a notre dame fan, so I ended up becoming one as well...However that is just for football that I am a Notre Dame fan. UK is my love in both basketball and football as well..

:scared: I Was a Kentucky fan through high school :scared:

I blame peer pressure and lack of ability to make up my own mind for that lapse in judgement.:D

As a senior in high school I would have given my eye teeth to go to UK and be a member of their athletic department, I had a marketable skill. I wrote several letters to UK and never got an answer. One phone call to Louisville and I got an interview and eventually a full scholarship. My conversion started. That was the late 70's. It was also the time when Kentucky was doing everything they could to not play Louisville in any sport. I took lots of grief from the diehard UK fans that I grew up with (including the father of my best friend who referred to Denny Crum as the pimp and regularly used racial slurs to describe the players) for taking a scholarship at Louisville. Listened to them tell me how Louisville didn't belong on the same court as Kentucky, even after the 1980 championship. I watched them drug kicking and screaming to an annual basketball game with Louisville (it took an act of congress). I have watched the total lack of respect that many UK fans have for Louisville, I listened for years to players and coaches on UKs football team make excuses about why Louisville was regularly beating them. I still listen to Kentucky fan after Kentucky fan do whatever they can to downplay the accomplishments that Louisville has made. That over the years has pretty much soured me to everything UK.

Well I used to like UK back in the day because everyone did. But I quickly learned to like the blue collar style of play that UC played, and their in your face, pressure defense, composed often times of "big time program" cast offs that weren't quite good enough for the elite conferences, and then made great seasons over and over again...

but I watch X now too lol so yeah..

I was pretty much brainwashed to be a UK fan by my family. Simple as that.

Your family has their priorities straight, please pass on this wisdom to future generations.

I root for any team that runs the Triple Option. Just love to see that offense.

Thomas More-My son plays football there!!!!

Tennessee-My father moved to Knoxville when I was in high school.(I only like them in football though)

Kentucky and Louisville both, which my friends say is downright impossible!

Overall I am just a fan of well played, disciplined, sports at all levels, but football is tops at any level!
