Awesome. More time to get to Hanover on Saturday for Centre's scrimmage if they are still playing it. Since you've gotten the Highlands varsity and jv updates, you are in charge of finding out what's going on with Centre's scrimmage on Saturday.

I have to wonder how you are going to tailgate before the JV scrimmage at 8 on Saturday:eek:.

LN - if HHS played Bracken County, you know you would be saying "I think this game is going to be closer than many think.";)

Your point on the heat affecting the Tigers is legit assuming Dixie has enough players to platoon.

I mean it this time, I really do! I promise. :ylsuper:

From what I know about Dixie, they should have a very deep team this year which will give them a very big advantage over Beechwood (which is talented, but not as deep from what I observed watching Beechwood and have heard about Dixie) in this heat even if the game is played on Saturday morning. Plus if Dixie passes a lot, its requiring Beechwood D backs and linebackers to run even more and pass rushing takes even more out of Beechwood's defensive linemen. Heck, if I was coaching Dixie, I feed them a steady stream of screens to make the D linemen spend a lot of energy pass rushing, only to then have to run down field to pursue the ball carrier.

I think the heat will particularly give Dixie an advantage on special teams. Assuming Dixie's kids on special teams are fresh and Beechwood has to play some of their kids already going both ways, it should really make a difference if Tom has his kids prepp'd and ready to go. There is no doubt that there is a lot of talent on Dixie's squad this year. And I'm not meaning to take anything away from Beechwood at all. Very nice team. But this is the time of year that the size differential can really be seen on the football field. Having watched Highlands play Elder, Colerain and St. X closely over the years in the first half, only to falter in the second half in weather like this, I feel pretty solid in my premise.

I know with these high temps. that alot of High Schools are moving their game times to later in the evening. I am hoping that the Saturday little leagues in the area also take note and reschedule their games. If the high schools are using caution, the little leagues definately need to do the same.

I think this is going to be a hard fought game. Ryle is ready for Highlands and looking to knock Highlands out of the #1 spot. However, just about everyone Highlands plays is looking to do this. Highlands is prepared and will prevail in this one.

Hanover's field will be suuuuupppperrr hot, if it traps heat as well as it used to.

Wow, 28 votes to 0 in favor of Highlands right now.

Where is Diamond Dandy?

At 38-0 votes for HHS are some or all of you ready to admit that this is not the GAME OF THE WEEK now?:p:D

The only way Ryle wins is if they found some way of parlaying their season last year into a new attitude and discipline from the first workout through the opening kick off. I think they have the talent and the heart to give Highlands a game, and themselves a chance of winning, but it is just as much mental as it is physical. Ryle has a tradition of coming out of the gate slow anyhow, and I'm not convinced Warner has enough Xs and Os knowledge right now to win against an elite team without a lot of talent. Here's to hoping they put the ball in the air a little more this season.
