September 21, 200718 yr Let me explain this to you. Baseball's a negative game, while hitting .300 is a great feat it is still getting out 70% of the time. So to counter that, baseball players work TREMENDOUSLY hard to perfect their mental game, especially at this level. As stated in many books, including H.A Dorfman's 'Mental Game of Baseball', a baseball player must remove any doubt from his mind, keep it clear and stay focused. Regardless if that's toward his own mechanics, the pitcher he's facing, the park he's playing in, the umpire behind the plate or the TEAM HE'S PLAYING. So, when it came down to it and the Sawx could put away the Yanks, they lost 5 of 6. They now have doubt. To answer your question, no...it doesn't change a thing. If you don't think they have doubt in their mind, you either don't get it or refuse to admit it. And before you start, don't give me any other examples, regardless if they're right of wrong. Those teams are not the Yankees and Red Sox. Look at all of that that I made you type!
September 21, 200718 yr Look at all of that that I made you type! I knew what you were doing, but I could talk about that stuff all day...
September 23, 200718 yr The Red Sox came from behind against the Devil Rays tonight with two homeruns in the ninth to win 8-6. The win clinched a playoff spot for the Sox no matter what happens in the East race. They lead by 2 1/2 with 7 to go.

They were going to be in even if the Yanks caught them.
September 26, 200718 yr Since Sticky and Rambler haven't been to eager to post the last couple of days I thought I'd update this thread. Red Sox won 7-3 over the A's behind 6 innings of 1 run ball by the Yankees favorite pitcher, Curt Schilling (who has an ERA of around 2.90 for his last 4 starts) while the Yankees were walked off by the Devil Rays after having a 4 run lead 7-6. On a side note Manny and Youk both played while Rocket was scratched yet again. The Sox now have a 3 game lead with 5 to play and the magic number sits at 3.

What else do you want? I just loved watching Sawx fan squirm...
