I like coffee but I'm cheap and drink Folger's instant out of the microwave. Plus I'm one of those anti-fad type people and not in to the yuppiness/new wave feel of Starbucks. If I had the time to spend an hour drinking a cup of coffee in Starbucks, reading the newspaper etc, I'd spend it at the office, at the farm, on the river or even better yet, watching Highlands practice. But to each, there own and if folks want to get their coffee at Starbucks, so be it. Just not my cup of tea (or coffee as you were).

I've always held that oil companies are allowed to be successful. We, the public, can change our habits if we have a problem with their pricing. The oil companies have very high R&D costs. The $$$ sound exhorbitant but I'm guessing as a % their profit level is not unreasonable (and if it is, God bless them).

What is the answer? $2.50 and UP for 12 oz of coffee. $1.29 for as much coke as you'd care to drink that visit. No comparison in value. If you think paying up to $30 a gallon for coffee is a value, go for it.

I was. I work for Juvenile Court, our busiest time, BY FAR is summer. Not even close. But that's for obvious reason.

Nope. Just like I don't complain about Wal-Mart running the mom and pops out. If it was really a priority to those that complain, Wal-Mart would not be as successful as they are. I'm all for the market controlling their own destiny. At some point, regardless of the fact that we're talking coffee, oil, or frying pans in aisle 3, we'll come to a point where we seek an alternative.
