My only problem with the smoking ban is at the stadiums. There should be some place there that smokers can go.

Where the family restrooms!!!!!! I was standing patiently with my 7 year old girl back in May when some inconsiderate low-life guy made us wait for about 5 minutes while he smoked in the family restroom. You couldn't even bare the smell when we entered. All i got out it was oh well!!!!:mad:

I don't think that is funny at all. In fact, I think that is really rude and could be harmful if you got the spray in their eyes. Why did you not just walk around them? I don't like the smell of alcohol, it brings back too many bad memories that I am not going to go into. I guess I should carry air freshner to restaurants with me so that I can spray it on the drinkers while I am trying to eat? As long as the people are in a smoking area or outside, they should be left alone. It is the people who run into the smokers on purpose that have the problem.

 

We have friends with health problems and we will not smoke around them. They are mature enough, however, to leave us alone for us to smoke outside. We are courteous smokers and therefore, appreciate courteous non smokers.

 

Still, I think that smoking and drinking maybe should be left at home. That way, all if fair and no body is bothered....but, then we would have to worry about hair spray, and body spray offending someone's senses...so, maybe we should just shut down all public places and that way everyone will be happy. Sounds silly, even to me, however, I have a sister in law that is against anything that has some kind of odor....so, we have to please everyone I guess.

I can set next to somebody, and drink a beer without increasing the chance of them developing liver cancer. Can you say the same thing, except sub in lung cancer for liver cancer, about a person setting right next to another blowing second hand smoke into their area. That is the difference between drinking and smoking.

So, you can drink and walk out of a bar or a restaurant without effecting another persons health? Where do you walk to....hmmm, your car. That is what killed a seven year old friend of mine and two cousins....think again!

 

PH has actually seen one persons shoulder dislocated and another's arm broken because a guy was walking in the bar drunk and was so drunk he did not have any business walking. So, a person can hurt someone by drinking and walking.

 

And, it seems that you are stating that drinking can cause liver cancer. If someone does not care about liver cancer, then why should they care about what second hand smoke does to them?

 

Bottom line is this....everything we do has consequences....even eating at fast food places. I think however, that smokers and drinkers should be courteous to others. Smokers are looked down upon and have been moved to smoke outside...which is fine. However, when you smoke outside and a non smoker comes and stands by you and does nothing but complain, it makes them the one's with the problem. I think people should have to drink outside as well....in fact, I think that it should be a law that before someone is served a drink, they are made to prove that they are not going to be the one driving...yes, even ONE drink.....one drink killed one of my cousins.

 

So yes, to your answer....someone drinking can affect my health....and if not my health, my well being....which has happened, however, again, I will not go into that.

All I know is that going to bars in both Lexington and St. Louis I love the Lexington no indoor smoking laws. However, I guess im biast because I don't smoke. I just hate indoors where you have to inhale smoke usually from my friends who do smoke. Im tolerant of people who smoke, heck I'd say a good 50% of my friends do but it can get annoying smelling like smoke every night after going to the bars.

 

 

They have a solution to the problem of smelling like smoke when you come home from the bars. Its called a shower:p

But you're not going to have anyone to talk to because they are just about empty. The Ohio smoking ban is the best thing to happen to NKY bars EVER!

Bingo Halls are the worst ever. We used to work them for a fundraiser and I swear it was like a hotbox. You wanted to fork your eyes out by the end of the day cause they burned so bad.

Most smokers have demonstrated a willingness to comply with rules concerning the comfort of others including standing outside regardless of weather conditions. Would it be to much to ask that such a place be designated at any place where smoking is banned? (A closed car is not an option). Truthfully, it feels more like a witch hunt by the anti smoking crowd than a mere attempt at a smoke free enviroment.

I have to agree with Pepper, and with Mrs. PurpleHaze. I feel smokers should have a designated area, and I think they're willing to comply.

 

As to Mrs. PH's comments about drinkers, I fully agree with what she's saying. And, even if there's no "danger" in a walking drunk, I don't go to bars because of drunk people. They're annoying, obnoxious and ruin a good time for me.

Then you must not be drinking or tipping!!! Budweiser sales to bars in Hamilton County are down 35% compared to last year. Boone, Kenton & Campbell are up 18% in the same time period. You are going to see both of those numbers go up as the winter months approach.

I wish that was the case...I'm a ridiculously large tipper, if the service is good.

 

Some new places downtown have opened that are doing very well. Lines around the block to get into the Cadillac Ranch downtown every Friday and Saturday.

 

The Lodge is great, and the new Havana Martini Club is still my favorite. Also Sully's is about 5-6 months old and always crowded.

 

These are all downtown.

Well, I think I might have an easy answer for this...a lot of bars in Hamilton County (AKA the Lodge) don't serve Budweiser for some reason. Maybe that's part of it?
