Sure can't say as though I blame them... but I can't help echo what others have said: if you've already paid to get in the park, what's the point of walking out in the third, except to show an empty stadium on television (which management has already made clear will not happen). June 30, 200719 yr I am a Pittsburgh fan(Steelers, Penguins and Pirates) and I don't know how baseball is surviving in that market. Baseball will never be what it once was, because of free-agency and the lack of a Salary cap like football. At this time of year in the NFL you can make a case for any of the 32 teams making the playoffs. That will never be in baseball. It is a dying sport, unless your team is in a big market city...:confused:

June 30, 200719 yr I doubt fans walking out during a game will affect any front office decisions. I don't see any of them dropping off big name contracts on the way out, so what walking out on a game has to do with trying to prove a point to the front office I have no idea. I'm sure the Pirate management are already aware their not that good, so why even do this? Like someone mentioned earlier, PNC is expecting a near capacity crowd tonight anyway so if anything the front office will just be happy to have a full stadium for a few innings.

July 1, 200719 yr If I remember correctly, the playoff games during the Bonds, Bonilla, Van Slyke years didn't sell out. Granted they were playing in Three Rivers, but it's just not a baseball town.
