June 21, 200719 yr I think it will be much harder to move Griff and his contract at what, 38? Than it will be to move 27 YO Dunn. Griff has deferred money and no team out there is going to trade for a 38 year old injury prone outfielder who they will then have to pay for the next 10 years. I'm not sure how the defered payments would work in a trade, but I'd say the Reds would have to eat most of it. It would be much easier to trade Dunn, but I still think they could get some sort of ML talent with Griffey.

I tend to think the reason they are priming Votto for the OF is the platoon at 1st will be back and either Griffey or Dunn or both will be gone.
June 21, 200719 yr Hanley Ramirez skipped AAA, Jose Reyes only played 37 games, Barry Bonds 44 games and he never played AA, Pujols never played AA and only played 3 games in AAA...... If he hits the way he hit in A ball I'd almost expect him to be up next year.

June 21, 200719 yr Someone in the NL west will make a bid on Dunn, they have to no one has any offense. If no one comes up with a good offer for griff we are not hurting he is being productive and if he wants to leave there is always the off season

June 21, 200719 yr How's it work? The deferred money was deferred a little per season, not off the top of the contract. I would guess (and I'm only guessing) that whoever he played for during those seasons would owe him the money on the agreed upon date(s).

June 21, 200719 yr I don't think they trade Jr during the majority of the season because his chase of 600 and Bailey are the ONLY marketable things about the Reds for this season. Now late in the season after he clears waivers and before the postseason rosters are set, maybe. Most of the season is gone at that point. But not with over 1/2 or 1/3 of the season left. Except that you are going for the nature of watching a baseball game. Bottom line is yes it is a business and Jr will sell tickets this year and beyond Bailey not sure anyone else will. If Jr is traded, I think it is in the offseason, unless someone busts down Wayne's door wanting him and willing to give a sweet, sweet deal. And I don't think that will happen.
June 21, 200719 yr Sean Marshall for Junior is a sweet, sweet deal IMO... I doubt it ever happens....If Junior wanted to play for a bad team he would just stay in Cincinnati....
