It is my opinion that Brooks and Barnhart both pushed for the game to be moved in the hopes that Louisville wouldn't agree to it. That would have then ended the game and UK could save face by saying Louisville wouldn't agree to terms.

I have no doubt that 95% of the fan base for both schools will have the ability to see this game live, even if they have to go to BW3s.

 

Will there be some casual fans that will skip the game rather than go out where before they could watch from home? No doubt.

 

It also will not have the national audience it did before. Regardless of what you think of the series and its appeal nationwide, it is football, and it was broadcast without competition; people watched. And the reach to recruits will be minimal, as well.

It makes no difference for me....I haven't watched the game since Tim Couch played. I don't understand why UofL fans are whining about it, as I've said numerous times, it's not a big deal.

UK did what they thought would give them the best chance to win the game. Which is more important than being on TV. I'm fine with it.

My opinion differs. IT's NEVER bad to be on national TV. With the game on Labor Day weekend it was a lock for national TV now it's not. THat's a bad thing as far as I'm concerned.

Seriously, the non-UK fan defending it says that he hasn't watched the game since Couch played in it, and it isn't a big deal. Anyone associated with the UofL program knows what role national exposure plays for the team, and it IS a big deal. Even someone like gametime, not associated with UofL, sees what Louisville's prominence on ESPN has done for the program and sees why it's a big deal.

The #1 objective of moving it out of the first game was to enhance UK's ability to schedule non-conference games, making it more flexible for them scheduling wise. With the addition of the 12th game, it allows them the freedom to schedule at least 3 home games, not having to haggle with too many home and homes. They had been moving in this direction for a while...see the Indiana series.

All about scheduling flexibility.

Bull butter. It is about them losing on National TV and the summer hype around the game. Anything else is bull butter. And you know I am right because even if that is not the reason, even if scheduling flexibility is the sole real reason, the PERCEPTION is that they are doing it to lessen the sting of a foregone L on the schedule. And they KNEW that was the perception because the idea had been shopped around for two years. And perception is reality when it comes to fan, recruits and media exposure so UK is reaping what the AD sowed.

 

It was a poor move for a program that had been making positive strides.
