U of L Requests Basketball Game Change

Featured Replies

The Courier Journal reported this morning that U of L has asked UK to move the mens' basketball game to January 5th instead of their traditional December game. Mitch and Billy agreed. Is this different than when UK requested that the football game be moved. Any thoughts?

Did UofL say it would give them a better shot to win?

More than likely. That early game usually gives the Cats a chance to catch UL before they've found their chemistry. :D

Knowing the difficulty UofL has scheduleing in Freedom Hall I would think it was more to do with a scheduleing conflict than anything else.
They are playing in Rupp this year.

How is it a conflict for UL?

If they can only get so many dates in Freedom Hall and and have contracts with teams that only have certian dates available, this would in fact be the case.

UK knows the difficult of scheduling games in Freedom Hall as well... I am ready for the new venue.

Even though, in this case it is the difference in probably missing out on one easy opponent.

This means the game is a few days before my birthday. Who is ready to take me to the game with them?

Would make for a good week of sports with the football championship a few days later.

They can play it first game or last game this upcoming season and it probably won't matter. It will likely be a beatdown ...

I don't see that happening at all in BBall.

But which way?

But which way?

Louisville is a likely top-five team for the upcoming season, and is a legit contender for a national title. While I have little doubt Mr. Gillespie will do a fine job, it's doubtful he can get the reclamation project running at full speed right out of the gate.

What kind of crap is this? ;)

I think all the Kentucky fans need to whine and moan until January about this.

UK wanted to keep the game where its been for years:

"I think you would probably rather play it at a different time than right before conference," first-year UK coach Billy Gillispie said.

"I think our fans, TV and everyone had gotten used to it being around that time, and I think we like it there," Barnhart said.

But UofL wimped out and schedule a different game for that date.

"They scheduled (a game) and told us they couldn't play (Dec. 15), and that's fine," Barnhart said.

But UK didn't pitch a fit like some other people may have. :sssh:

Barnhart said. "If it's in January, it doesn't really matter to us."

Gillispie said ... he didn't have an issue with the later game.

Barnhart said. "But if (U of L) can't play on that day, then certainly we want to be accommodating."
