Should the Reds trade Dunn for Lidge?

Featured Replies

Pay the money, and you have a reliable closer anchoring what was once a very suspect bullpen. Again, hitting is way ahead of pitching in the current MLB. Pay for the pitching, and you bring up boppers from the minors to fill in for the plethora of solo HRs that will be absent from the lineup. The guys are already there in the minors that can do what Dunn does.

Well if that is the case the future is very very bright here in the Nati.

That was never argued against. Is Lidge worthy of top closer money? No.

I never said he was....You said a small market team can't survive paying a closer 7M+.....If they want to contend they better find a way to do so.

If he produces, yes.

Exactly my whole point. IF!!!!!! We are willing to trade Dunn for IF???

Let me rephrase that. When. Because he's still got the arm, and probably will for many years. Giving up an HR to Pujols is nothing to be ashamed of.

When is going to happen then. There must be some werid reason he can't do it in Houston.

He comes here for one half season as a rental and then his price skyrockets when he hits the market. Were you not around this off season...

What "market" would he be in after this year? Closer? Super closer?

What's the going rate and whom will he be compared to?

Closer. Not a very saturated market. Big cash...

cshs are you happy with every day Eddie as the closer?

I'm not...He's like 90 years old.

Look, just because one organization loses confidence doesn't mean a guy is washed up. With Wheeler struggling as of late, you may see Lidge back in that role sooner than later, if for no other reason than to help drive his price up.

The Reds lose games with Dunn in the lineup and without. They score runs against rightys with him in the lineup and out. They don't score runs against leftys with Dunn in or out. The bottom line is he's just not a difference-maker.

Before I answer that, give me a time span I have to consider?
