Andy Katz: I do not hate Kentucky!

Featured Replies

Katz has been labeled that for years, I think it is like Jay Bilas for Louisville, ever one knows he was upset for losing his shot at a ring in the 1986 championship game and most Louisville fans think he is biased against the Cards. When in fact he think he is really just calling it like he sees it.

Forgot what thread I was in ... :D

Yea, but not before hitting that edit button, so now my post looks foolish in context, when you were posting in the wrong tread. How is that fair. :fight:

You must have been right on top of my post, because it took me all of about 15 seconds to figure out I screwed up.

My point is I hear UK fans complaining all the time about this announcer or that writer "doesn't like the 'Cats." Heck, I've even heard people go so far as to suggest whole networks (ESPN) have it in for Kentucky.

My other point would be that a lot of UK fans need to get over their self-importance and this bunker mentality about the school they root for. Most people don't care one way or another.

The same could be said for many fans of many other schools and professional teams.

Actually I can tell you that ESPN is biased towards certain teams. Maybe not at the college level, but I have noticed it in baseball with the Atlanta Braves. They rarely have them on early in the segment even when it is a huge game. Yankees and Red Sox are always the first ones shown because that is where ESPN is around. Not saying I'm complaining but I have noticed it before.

I would comment on why or why not Katz likes U.K. but I just don't care :D . I can't stand Katz and couldn't care any less about what he thinks about U.K. or any other team. ;)

I don't see the national media writing articles about other schools and teams. You guys are special.;)

Well its about time someone came out and said it. :D

Jay Bilas is far and away the best thing ESPN has in regards to the college game. That guy is the least biased sports personality I've ever seen.

Which is what alot of us think about Katz. It is all about perspective.
Dear Mr Katz,

Why not?

This DID make me laugh. Nice job, RRR.

Here is another comment from Katz:

SportsNation Andy Katz: (4:45 PM ET ) Blake from Lexington wasn't too pleased with my top 10 list. I can't post his comment. But he wasn't pleased. I can say I had Kentucky at No. 11 as one of the top 10 programs going forward. If I had to do it today I'd probably change it and put the Wildcats into the top 10. But, it was just a poll. There's no reason to get so upset.

I didn't know SportzAddict lived in Lexington.

Some of you are confusing bias for teams/cities/schools that get ratings.

And before some of the irrational blow up at me, i'm not saying UK does not get national respect/ratings.

UK gets their exposure. Katz has an opinion, as does everyone else. Sometimes, people don't agree with other people's opinions. That is what makes this such a great country. :thumb: :jump:

It could be that the hate Atlanta. It also could be that while Atlanta is a major market, it dwarfs in comparrison to the New York and Boston markets. Hasn't Atlanta had trouble selling out playoff games in the recent past?
