May 4, 200719 yr If based off the play, I don't agree, since lack of quality pitching is the big downfall. He shares in portion of the blame, along with management. If based off his DUI, then should be handled privately, through legal system and unless his coaching abilities were "impaired", I don't see it as reason to resign. People make mistakes and some, more than others.

May 4, 200719 yr Hancock was 29 years old and he paid the ultimate price. Hopefully lessons will be learned and this event will not be the talk of the town. There are living members of his family that are grieving. Talk like this doesn't help no one. It really bothers me when the lambasting starts and the damage is done. NEXT STORY !!

The attraction of alcohol and drugs, must be overwhelming to some who can afford, since it reoccurs through sports. Adults make choices and in both cases, each were wrong but one, paid the ultimate price....with his life.

If you want to fire LaRussa for his DUI, fine, do it as soon as it happened, but don't do it now after Hancock's death. I agree LRCW, if you were going to fire him for the DUI it should have been done at that time, Hancock was a grown man not a child, he needed to be more responsible for his actions.

IMO a person doesnt have to be fired if they have learned from their lesson and use it for good. I do think the penalty in society for a DUI should be more severe, even though it has happened to people who are my friends and to Coach Gillispie.

Clubhouse culture doesn't change and now a player is dead. It all starts at the top. Except when it doesn't???
