If your boss at work gets a DUI, does that mean we should expect you to get one too? That's just nonsense. People are responsible for their own actions. That's one of the biggest problems we have today. Someone is always trying to place the blame on someone else's shoulders for the actions of individuals.

 

We aren't talking about any normal job here. A DUI may kill a young, inexperienced persons career, but it won't do that to a professional baseball player. The only authority they know is their team. LaRussa gets a DUI and walks into the clubhouse the next day and says "I'm not in trouble for driving drunk....but you guys shouldn't drive drunk," how many people are going to take him seriously? We know one didn't. And I don't blame my problems on anyone else. The fact of the matter here is LaRussa is the manager, not the bat boy, he's in charge of LEADING the team.

Why wasn't he suspended for a few games when he overslept a game because of a hangover? Where was the leadership if this was a bigger problem than just a bad one time decision???

It was here in Cincy, and I know for a fact he was out late drinking. His "excuse" was he didn't realize it was a day game and he slept through a bunch of wake up calls. He was hungover.

No, but he realized he would get away with it. LaRussa isn't their parent, he's the manager. He's in charge of his team and as such he has a degree of responsibility. I'm not going to lose sleep if he continues to be the Cardinals' manager, but I certainly feel he shares in the blame of the accident.

Glad he didn't work for SportService. We left the park at around 1:00 AM for a night game and was back in the park at 7:00 AM for a day game the two summers I worked for them. He would have never made it.

Yeah he overslept. I'm not saying that alcohol wasn't a factor in him oversleeping, but do you think that Hancock walked into LaRussa's office, and said, "Sorry skip, I'm late because I overslept because I had a hangover"?
