This in NO way, is LaRussa's fault, other than one could say same team. Unless he was living under his roof, by his rules and being accountable, not connected.
May 4, 200719 yr It was reported that the restaurant where Hancock ate offered him a cab ride home but he turned them down. So I can't really see why LaRussa should resign because of this unfortunate incident.

Let the lead man slide and no one learns anything...No idea about the culture but certainly, LaRussa has no control, over what a player puts into his body. MLB has specific rules, on what can be taken and not. Hancock made the choice and a tragic accident resulted, but not LaRussa's fault, any more when a player goes 0-4.... Everyone makes choices, each day and Hancock's choice, resulted in his loss of life. You're reaching, trying to connect something, that is not possible.

How is Marvin Lewis responsible for the actions of the grown MEN on his team yet Abner Doubleday is in now way shape or form responsible of the actions of the grown MEN on his team? Sounds like a double standard to me...

He was getting thumped for guys without a previous record too. You know as well as I do if the guy had a drinking problem, which he obviously did, the people paying him a lot of money knew about it...

Contracts contain clauses, with no this, that, skydiving, water ski and etc....but they still do. Hancock made a "personal" choice, to consume and perhaps more, than get behind the wheel....His choice. He probably watches TV and listens to radio, but the violence he was exposed to, didn't result in him doing the same....Too easy to blame others, for his own mis-doings.

May 4, 200719 yr So is this what Huggins should have done when he got his DUI? IMO a person doesnt have to be fired if they have learned from their lesson and use it for good. I do think the penalty in society for a DUI should be more severe, even though it has happened to people who are my friends and to Coach Gillispie. What about this GT, should Huggins have been fired when he got his DUI? Should he or Gillispie ever have gotten another coaching job?

Huggins should have been fired when he got his DUI. Not over a year later after even more damage was done. That's the point. I'm all for second chances, but when you do nothing and now a player is dead, shouldn't something be done???

Since you agreed with his statement GT, are we to assume that you feel that Lewis should step down?
