They sure tell the story I remember, which was U of L physically excusing the Wildcats from the field on both sides of the ball.

UoL dominated UK last season. I'm not sure that gaurantees a repeat performance this season.

Do we honestly think this game has national appeal?

Outside of the state lines it has a very minimal interest.

This tape delay information is eerily similar to the same Ville propaganda that was being served a few years back when they said UK was refusing to move the game to Sunday for television purposes.

UK never said they wouldn't move the game, but the story was being circulated late May and through the summer.

And they did move the game.

This is major college football scheduling. Only one rivalry is played right out of the chute and that is Colorado/Colorado State.

UK wants to move the game for flexibility scheduling wise. If there was one game I wish they would move, it would be the Florida game. For years they played them late in the year, and many times in the cold.

I'm not that concerned about it...it will be on television.

I'm not so worried about the national exposure as I am about wins.

Which did more for UK last year...playing UL on national TV or Clemson in the MCB on national TV?

It was the only game on, people watched. That's what's so nice about the slot.

First thing is we have to see how things pan out before we can actually judge it. Someone tell me is it not possible (due to contracts) that say a bunch of top 25 teams look really bad comeing out the gate and UK looks good their first few games, is there not a chance this gets picked up by the big dogs(espn, ABC)? I mean UK could actually be ranked at that point. One would think that there could be interest in a Ranked BCS bowl winner from the Big East playing a ranked SEC school.

So I will reserve judgement till it plays out.

 

That said on face value alone, it does look weak. And so is the arguement that others are doing it (moving their games away from the first week) too. So what if traditional powerhouses move their games because they don't want to look weak week one and suffer the poll blow? They actually have something to lose, what do we have to lose? Louisville is just now ten years removed from the days of Hewhomustnotbenamedthatwasaniceguybutshouldneverhavebeenmorethanapositionscoachforaweaksecdefense (Ron Cooper) and a 10 loss football season. I know I was at Louisville during those years (oddly enough we still beat UK though...) Granted since then we have gone on to win more bowls in that period then UK has ever even gone to but Louisville is not even as highly thought of as Virginia Tech in football yet. And UK is nationally known as a bottomfeeder, a BCS welfare recipent, a team on the same level as Vandy, Baylor and Duke. So if either school thinks it is possible for them to squeak out a win on national exposure they should do anything possible to get and keep it. So that said it LOOKS like UK is just giving up on ever beating Louisville again. It has that appearence on face value alone. And it doesn't matter what "real" reasons for moving the game are. That is the appearence. Neither Louisville or UK are big enough names to carry this game alone, we have to play to the system the system will not play to us unless we both win consistantly. Louisville is on the verge, and UK is getting better, but UK moving this game and burying it does not LOOK good.

 

That said we all need to step back and look at it four years from now to really judge how wise or foolish this move is. After all with Louisvilles new coach and system coming on line while UK is returning a bowl team, one has to think that the first game would be the best time to for UK to upset Louisville. But if UK wins some games and gets in the top 25, we may get national exposure anyway then that means that neither team has to take a first week loss so that is good for both (if UK starts to win consistantly) BTW for fans on both sides, last years bowl wins were both hugh for each program, but they are stepping stones, one bowl win (BCS or not) doesn't make you overnight, it is more wins and consistancy.

 

Back to the original title though, if I can't get tickets, and this is on Tape delay I am never going to forgive Barnhart.

If your saying that last year's game wasn't a complete and udder pounding you are way off. U of L, without Bush kept rolling.....UK was fortunate to break a couple of big plays. Two of which were on seemingly busted plays...UK did a great job of improving and if they were to play near the end of the season, it likely would've been much closer, but THAT night the gap seperating the two, exceeded that of the Grand Canyon.

A lot of you are really stretching to put your desired spin on this. I've really gotten some good laughs, from both sides.

To be honest...here's my actual take. I do think it kind of stinks for UK to want to move the game back...but when it is at their house, it is their choice. I also feel they think they need the extra time to get ready for the Cards. However, deep inside, I am quite sure that Mitch and Rich, would rather play the Cards Game 1 instead of 3 THIS season. They should be more game ready early this year, than the Cards.

Why the stupid name calling? Is UK not worthy of being mentioned in top 25 talks? Even after the season they had last year topped of with an impressive bowl win over Clemson? I think seeing as how they're returning nearly everyone, they deserve to be mentioned in top 25 talks. Why the animosity towards UK and their recent success?

 

 

UK did have a good season last year, but who did they beat that was worthy of beeing in the top 25? They did beat UGA (nice win). UGA was not up to thier standards either. I understand they beat Clemson in the bowl and that too was a very good victory. That was probably the best victory of the Brooks era IMO. Clemson was not exactly a top 25 team either. A succesful season to UK standards is by no means a succesful season to NCAA standards, it's below average.
