Also, how is everyone so POSITIVE that the reasoning was to not get embarrassed on TV? I find it comical that everyone is jumping to that conclusion. Is there not an argument for the side that says that UK honestly believes it will have a better shot of beating the Cards in week 3 than in the opening week? It's pretty apparent that this is a conclusion that is being jumped to (and it's quite obvious that the anti-UK fans are the ones coming to this conclusion). Why is there a better shot to beat them in Week 3? What leads anyone to believe that? That's an EXCUSE. Plain and simple...

Any theory on this is arguable, but I believe it gives the team a chance to build some momentum before facing a team like UL. As for ducking the national stage, I dont think UK did it to get off national tv. I still think it could be picked up even. I simply disagree with you there.

May 4, 200719 yr FWIW: 1) As a UofL fan I think that this stinks because I want them to get all of the exposure they can as it has already shown to pay off in the last few years. 2) As a fan of all Kentucky schools I think it stinks because it's just taking away exposure from both respected schools as well as this great state as a whole. 3) Obviously I think it stinks all around and I feel that it was a narrow-minded move on the part of UK. I won't be losing any sleep over it though because I think that it is hurting UK much more than UofL regardless of the outcome of the game itself.

Plus throwing in the fact that UofL has a new coach the learning period will be MUCH more beneficial to UofL than it will be to UK.

Well if you'll step off of your soapbox for a minute, you can look back and see that I have acknowledged that yes, the Cards will improve as well. That being said, the way you're looking at it, upsets must never happen, right? I mean if a good team gets better, it's impossible for them to get beat by a team that isn't as good. Once again, Week 3 UK will be better than Week 1 UK and I have more confidence in Week 3 UK in an attempt to UPSET the Cards (who, as we have established, will have improved as well). Agree to disagree.

Bingo. Add in that they play the Cards pretty tough at home already and there was no logical reason for the move IMO...
