I would agree with that. By no means was I saying that UK was a football powerhouse. I like UK but am a realist. The best/worst thing UK has going for it is the SEC.

I know you cover sports on a larger scale than I do but exactly how many meetings have you sit in on with the UK administration?

UL has FIVE national games on the schedule. Those are the Thursday and Friday games. They would have six if the UK game was kept in place.

 

I don't need to sit in on anything to know UK isn't doing what is necessary to gain exposure on a national level. I will commend them for playing South Carolina on a Thursday national game (if it was really their decision). Moving the UL game away from the national stage is a coward move any way I look at it. You guys are drinking the kool-aid if you think otherwise...

Sunday on a MAJOR holiday weekend is an elite time slot, and now we are talking about tape delay?

 

UC and Michigan are the two teams I follow, and it means nothing to me when UL and UK play. With that said if the game is going from a big time national slot to minor news it's bad for both programs.

This says it all. If the game meant nothing then you would not invest so much time in talking about UK and UL. Its obvious that you are going to criticize UK at any chance you get.

Is it a bad thing that UK would like to get a couple of games under their belt and build a little confidence going into a big rival like this?

Now if UK dropped UL from the schedule then that would be upseting.

I can see why UL is upset. How many of their games are televised on the weekends? Losing the Sunday game does hurt with a TV schedule like that. I also think the Friday college games are a bad ideal, too much infringement on the high school games.

Too many people here are taking personal offense to the opinions of the UK Administration which is absurd. Can we not all be civil and discuss this without petty bickering back and forth over opinions? That's what BGP is for, sharing opinions. Not attacking others because of the opinion they have instead of providing a valid counter-point. It's thread's like this that I don't enjoy posting in because I know that someone is just waiting to pounce on a poster that they don't share the same views with for no reason. Sorry for the rant but I just felt like venting a little bit.

The UL game is a critical, and I mean critical, game each year for UK. If the UK coaches think that it increases their chances of winning by playing them later in the year, that's good enough reason for me. If nothing else, it shows the respect that UK has for UL's program. If that respect is a sign of weakness to some, so be it. If being on tape delay is a big problem for some, I'm happy for you as you obviously don't have any real problems in your life to be worried about. I'd like to watch it live also, but I'm not going to get my boxers in a bunch over it. And the point that most schools do not play their strongest rivals is a strong one, and would indicate that UK's decision is backed by conventional wisdom.

That's part of the problem. There will be a lot of them. The Labor Day Sunday spot had little to no opposition. If you are hanging out with your family any where in the country and wanted to watch a game, it was UL/UK or nothing. That's my main issue with the move, and has been since it was announced. It's bad for both programs to give that up any way you slice it IMO...
