It's simple. Assuming teams improve as the season progresses, both UofL and UK will progress accordingly. Regardless of how well UofL improves, UK needs to be performing as well as they possibly can for a chance to pull the upset.

If there is, at best it's an expectation that U of L will be near perfect at the start of the season anyway, and so even if both teams improve as much as they can, UK would make up ground. Otherwise, it's just rolling the dice, same as it would be to play it in the first game.

 

There is no competitve advantage that I see to playing the game later.

 

If the logic is to let UK get a few games under the belt, that really blew up in Mitch Barnhart's face, considering U of L has a new coach and therefore much more to gain from a competitive stand point to getting a few extra reps down before the game.

Well I'm not one of them; have rooted for both as long as I can remember, but after being on here it is getting more difficult. You all talk about growing a fanbase and then tell us not to pull for them.You all better hope Kragthorpe as good as Petrino was.

All I'm saying is, I'll take a UK team who has had time to work out a few kinks rather than one whose only hope is to get lucky. Just an opinion. If yours is that UK's best chance is to pull the upset in week 1, that's perfectly alright with me.

Trying to have a peeing contest between UK, IU, or UL in football is comedy at its finest, imo. All programs have had a few years of sustained success, but as a whole, they have all three traditionally sucked.

I would agree with that. By no means was I saying that UK was a football powerhouse. I like UK but am a realist. The best/worst thing UK has going for it is the SEC.

CBS has the first right of refusal on all SEC games. And this is a 8 day window. After that the other networks get a shot at them. So we may not know who or where this game could be televised til a week prior.

UL has FIVE national games on the schedule. Those are the Thursday and Friday games. They would have six if the UK game was kept in place.

 

I don't need to sit in on anything to know UK isn't doing what is necessary to gain exposure on a national level. I will commend them for playing South Carolina on a Thursday national game (if it was really their decision). Moving the UL game away from the national stage is a coward move any way I look at it. You guys are drinking the kool-aid if you think otherwise...
