The New York Yankees

Featured Replies

Isn't it ironic that when A-Rod is doing poorly the Yanks are winning and now that he has turned into a freak in the batters box the yanks have been swept in consecutive series..HAHAHAHA

"Poorly" by A-Rod's standards is great for virtually everyone else in the Major Leagues.

A-Rod is also the sole reason the Yankees have won 3 games this season. He was a freak in the batters box before their current 5 game slide.

I have never in my life seen a more depleted pitching staff this early on in the season. They were taking guys out of the stands and giving them an innning or two.

The Yankees will be fine. This happened the same time last year and they are developing pitching in their farm system, Hughes starts tomorrow night for New York. Mussina is on the way back and they are players in the Clemens situation so it is a little early to count them out.

The original plan was to make Hughes a late season call up. They have a lot of great pitching in the farm system, but it is all relatively young and not ready for the majors (according to the media).

The goofy thing about the whole Yankee situation is, they literally did nothing in the offseason if you think about it. People make it sound like they were active players, that is hardly the case.Their smartest moves, imo, were holding on to Wong and Cabrera and not giving into trying to sign power hitters.

Major changes.... you mean they try to get some pitching? I love how the Yankees just try and open the check book to fix their problems. INSTEAD of taking a Brewer/Marlin approach and actually develop some talent in their farm system.

The Yanks have been going this route in the last few years. They are trying to cut their spending and develop the young guys. All you have to do is pay attention and listen to the news to know they are doing that. What big free agent did they bring in this past off season? They are working on developing the young guys, as you see in their lineup now with Cano, Wang, Melky, and Hughes. The Yanks have had a rash of injuries and will be fine when they get semi healthy.

The sad part is neither did the Rays. :irked:

The New York bull pen has been as much of a problem as the starters. However, the Yankees have scored more runs than any other team in baseball to this point. If they get any kind of pitching consistency, look out.

:dancingpa I'm happy to report that the mighty Yankees have been swept in consecutive series - by my Red Sox and now by the Devil Rays. I'd say some major changes are on the horizon in the Bronx!

Enjoy it now while you can, If this were September I would worry but it is April ;) . The Yanks will get some pitchers back from the DL and you just know that "the Boss" will make some moves later on. Imo if the Yankees can get at least decent startng pitching with their powerful offensive attack they will be just fine. Also, I would not be suprised to see a familiar #22 back in Yankee pinstripes later on this seaosn. ;)

GO YANKEES!!! ,. Pinstipes forever! :flame:

GO REDS!!!! :flame:

:flame: Boo...!!!

Its April...we are four games out. Do you guys really know baseball? Four games out. Give me a break. April....Laughing Out Loud!

Yes, 4games is really nothing in baseball. The yanks get off to a bad start every year but wind up turning it around and winning the east.

5.5 games back.....Lost 6 in a row....Their starting pitching is making the Reds starters look like All-Stars (including Uncle Milty), and their bullpen is every bit as bad as the Redlegs, outside of #42 of course.

It’s a great sports night when the evil empire fall almost as good as when Notre Dame gets whacked

  So true...

The Yanks will be fine. The only thing you'll hear in 3 months is that A Rod can't produce when it counts...

Don't forget that the Yankees started 11-19 last year and still won the division convincingly. Also they have 2 starters on the DL right now in Wong and Mussina. Both will be back shortly and Steinbrenner will bust out the check book eventually.

Those of you celebrating the Yankees losing, enjoy it while it lasts because with the way their offense is producing runs, once their rotation is back to normal, the Yankees will be back in 1st.

Wang's already back.....

Face it, a rotation of Wang, Pettite, Mussina, Igwawa, and Hughes just isn't good enough to win a division. The glaring weakness that is the Yankees pitching has already been exposed. If they are able to make some moves (it'll take more than the Rocket), to get the hurlers on track I say, yes they're the team to beat in the AL East, but if they don't do that, there is no way they make the playoffs.
