Marshall U offers Matt Walls

Yet another great Kentucky high school player likely to go to a D-1 school, just great to see.

EKU has been on him the longest and hardest of the D1 coaches. However I heard that Newbaurer interviewed for the St. Bonaventure job... I don't understand why he would leave EKU for St. Bonaventure - lateral at best. ???
A lateral move? I'm not sure I would go that far, considering that St. Bonaventure is in the Atlantic 10. Eastern Kentucky is in the OVC. Big difference ...

Besides, I believe Neubauer played at LaSalle, so he has ties to the league and that part of the country.

I agree - EKU has a chance to go to the dance every now and then.

I'll buy the part about his ties to the league.

Between Marshall, Morehead, and EKU, Marshall is the better choice IMO. The Thundering Herd is in C-USA so the competition will be higher than the OVC.

I could see Walls doing well at Marshall. How long before he plans on making a decision?

I don't see Walls being able to play at UK.

I think Walls can play at any D-1 school. He is not just a shooter, he played the point for Scott Co. his sophomore and junior season and is an excellent rebounder. He reminds me of Dane Bradshaw of Tennessee or Lee Humphrey of Florida.

Better take that ride. Hate to miss out on a school like that. I doubt many other bigs will come knocking.

Those two players aren't anything alike.

Humphrey is a spot up shooter, Bradshaw is a forward trapped in a guard's body.

06-07 Stats:

Bradshaw - 5.5 points (187 shots taken), 4.0 boards, 4.7 assists, 1.9 steals

Humphrey - 10.3 points (305 shots taken), 1.3 boards, 1.3 assists, .5 steals

I'm not saying Walls would be a star at UK but he has played against the top d-1 talent in the country and been outplayed by no one. BTW it is between Marshall and UK(that is a fact).

My opinion is there will be some teams who dont get their guy this spring, be needing a good shooting guard and all of a sudden Matt Walls could become a hot comodity.

Yup, this is true.

you took the words right out of mouth or keyboard.

I think Walls can play D-1 but not at the elite schoools. He is no where the shooter as Humphrey or as strong as Bradshaw.

How many times have you seen him play? I have saw Walls light it up a few games this year. I have been very impressed by him. I believe he is similar to Bradshaw because he will do anything to win and potentially could do well in a role like Humphrey had with Florida.

Ditto.
