I think Al Sharpton has actually gotten a little less crazy from the time he arrived on the scene. Jesse Jackson, who I too once supported, seems to act like he's ministered to one too many crack houses. Jesse has grown stranger and stranger over the years. He seems to have gone downhill since his presidential run.

Good post!!! I think that the anger of what happened has sometimes gotten the best of Jesse and has clouded his judgement on a lot of issues. He just needs to step back and think about what Dr. King was trying to do and get things back on track!!

Sharpton serves no real purpose, accept his own agenda. He seems to champion causes, to cry racial discrimination, when in my opinion, does more to create divide, than to bring together.

 

Not every act, police shooting, white on black, black on white....is racial but Sharpton, always appears in these type of situations.

 

Shame on you Sharpton.

That seems to be the case, but other than showing up to support blacks and protesting prejudicial behaviors and actions, I don't know that Jackson has ever proved himself to be a racist. I think that he and Reverand Al both love the attention and the spotlight.

 

Seems to me he's almost a racial hypocrit,... protest the opposite any chance you get but never pay attention to your own; almost like saying "we are the persecuted victims that can't be wrong!"

 

I think that they stand up for some good causes, but not all, and don't stand up enough when they should. Maybe they'd rather lay down than have someone call them out, especially if they're of the same race.

Did he bother to ask for meetings with Don Imus to talk about change and giving a positive message. No, he immediatedly wanted the man fired. Again complete Hypocrisy.

Actually I believe that Imus appeared on the Sharpton show. And they werent there to have a dialog about change. He immediately was pushing for Imus to be fired and even commented that Imus apology wasn't good enough. Completely different approach to what they would do with a rapper.

Imus was on Shaprton's show where he was verbally pummelled by both Sharpton and his callers. On teh same show he started calling for poetntial guests to stay off the Imus show. Imus invited Sharpton on his show to discuss the issue but, surprise, Sharpton wouldn't be able to control the content so he declined.

Imus makes a series of idiotic insulting remarks against the Rutgers Ladies B-Ball team and we have Al, Jesse, and a dozen other "civil rights" spokespersons plastered all over the airwaves demanding Imus' head. I'm not a big Imus fan. His remarks certainly crossed the line. He deserves whatever he gets... fine with me. No argument here.

 

Mike Nyfong accuses the Duke LaCrosse team of rape, basically gets the team shut down for a season, gets several players kicked out of school, only to now find that the accusations were lies. Where's Al and Jesse and company demanding the firing of Nyfong? Where are their demands for justice? Where's the talk of reparations for these players wrongly accused?

 

There is no consistency or balance in the application of moral outrage.

 

When did we cease seeking to be Americans... united we stand, divided we fall... instead of a bunch of aggrieved huddled masses yearning to sue?

 

What is right for one is right for all, regardless of skin tone, ethnic heritage or financial standing. I'm certain Martin Luther King would agree 100%.

 

Jesse has tried for nearly 40 years to fill Martin Luther King's shoes, and cannot tie them tight enough to keep them on his tiny feet. Al got his start in Jesse's shadow, and can't outgrow it either.

I can promise you that there will not be any such an admission of racism by Jackson or Sharpton. Imo these two will open their mouth when a topic is hot (before they have the facts) and then run and hide, nowhere to be found after the fact .

My wife is fond of stating that "actions speak louder than words." She is right.

 

It is my opinion that Al, Jesse and lots of politicians have two separate agendas. A public agenda they give voice to whenever a mic or camera is present; and a personal agenda for power, wealth and recognition that is far more important to them. As has been pointed out already, Al and Jesse would be out of work if people ever realized that there is only one human "race" that comes in lots of amazing sizes, shapes and colors; and the best thing we can all do is try to build on our common strengths and needs while rejoicing the richness of our differences.

 

They may say they want the things Martin Luther King preached so passionately, but their actions reveal otherwise... because, if MLK's beautiful dream ever came true, they'd both have to go back to preaching, and everybody knows there's no real money to be made preaching the true Gospel. :lol:

On a side note, I find it amazing that the people groups supposedly represented by Sharpton and Jackson do not speak up against some of the things Al and Jesse say and do.

I know for a fact that if I ever appointed myself to speak on behalf of my supposed "ethnic" group, I'd be set straight in a heartbeat if I drifted off course.

 

It may just be my opinion, but I think Bill Cosby has a lot more to offer the black community in terms of a truly constructive message than either Sharpton of Jackson.

 

Al and Jesse need victims to retain their power... the more the better. Cosby is all about sharing his secrets for true success with individuals to minimize the number of victims.
