So basically you're saying that African-Americans can do whatever they want to discriminate against Whites, based on the fact that 150 years ago our ancestors treated their ancestors inhumane? I know whites screwed up, and will never claim to understand what it's like to be an African-American, but you cannot try to "make up" for what happened. By allowing African-Americans to display the same racist behavior that Whites are held accountable for, is not promoting equality, but rather discrimination and it makes the tension between the races grow. The ideal society that we both can agree is desired, is one where race doesn't matter, and isn't an issue. However by giving different races different standards is only going to make it that much harder for us as a society to reach that goal.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I wanted to discuss it openly so every one in P&R can understand it.

 

This is the second post today in which NCF has substituted other symbols in the word "hell". Technically, this could be deemed a violation of Rule 8 which states: Any attempt to use or suggest profanity is prohibited. This means you may not use symbols to replace some or all of the letters in a word that might otherwise be blocked by the BGP word filter.

 

The good news is, after lengthy discussion among the moderators, the use of the word "hell" in the proper context as a bad place to spend eternity should be acceptable in a "Religion" forum, whereas, any use of "hell" simply as profanity will not be allowed. Likewise any substitutions in a profane context such as "he^^" "he--" "heIl" etc. would also be considered violations.

 

So bottom line... if you intend to specify "hell" as an actual place within polite conversation, you're good to go. If you intend to use the word in a profane manner, you're out of bounds whether you spell it straight or with substitutions.

Your right slavery isn't a black/white thing. However, slavery in this country has and always will be a black/white thing. The Africans did what they needed to do in order to survive, they needed the products that selling the slaves brought them. However, in the USA, rich, racist, white folks tried to keep an entire race down by making the Africans slaves. Slavery had nothing to do with necessity, debts, or capture in the USA, it had all to do with race and superiority.

So I guess if I follow your line of thinking then if I sould happen to get in a bad financial way, then I guess that it's all OK for me to sell my young children out so they could be used in a sweat house somewhere because GMAC is coming to get my Tahoe , or it's OK for me to sell my wife so I can make my house payments cause the bank's going to put me out on the street. I wonder how many blacks in this country still have relatives in Africa that are being held in bondage by their own race ,since slavery is still prevelant in many African countries today. Maybe if this country was void of more Merlene Davis's, Al Sharptons, Jesse Jacksons, etc., who have to constantly keep throwings the race card on everything that happens then maybe we could all get along better. I cant change what happened 200 years ago, any more than what any other Italian can change what happened 2,000 years ago, or can any of German heritage change what the Nazi's did as recently as 65 years ago. We are generations away, it at all. As for myself, I have long forgiven the discrimination that was shown to my ancestors from Italy and Ireland upon their arrival in this country. Al Sharpton was on with Meredith Viera this morning and called out the music industry. He talked about his group having meetings with people in the music industry. He complained about those in the decision making positions of music industry are not even African-Americans.

 

He said that the music industry must change and start giving positive messages. That there are artists out there with positive messages but the music industry sees cheap bucks with the crap they are putting out there now and won't make any changes.

At this point in their life, I disagree to an extent. I think they are getting to the age, that they would love to have a spot in history as MLK does. A person that made a real change instead of what you imply.
