This guys an idiot but ya know, white people haven't gone through the past 250+ years in this country as the minority being ridiculed and hated on. White people don't need people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to speak up for them, they aren't discriminated against on a daily basis! GIve me a breaaakk... Slavery in Africa wasn't racially profiled at all. You lost a battle to a tribe, you became a slave. You owed a debt, you became a slave. The Africans treated slaves like millionaires compared to what the racist southern white men did. Apples and oranges...

So that made it allright for one tribe to sell captured menbers of another tribe? To me it might be even worse to be sold by ones own people to slavery than to actually have a part in being the bonder.

 

Heck, I am white and of English decent and once the Romans held my people in bondage. Does that mean I need to hate an entire Italian population for eternity? Slavery is not a BLACK/WHITE issue in all cases. A lot of us have been in the same boat as the the African-American society, but you just cant keep hating an entire race or nationality for something that a current generation had no hand in.

There are still a half dozen countries in Africa that practice slavery.

I'm not a big Imus fan. His remarks certainly crossed the line. He deserves whatever he gets... fine with me. No argument here.

 

Mike Nyfong accuses the Duke LaCrosse team of rape, basically gets the team shut down for a season, gets several players kicked out of school, only to now find that the accusations were lies. Where's Al and Jesse and company demanding the firing of Nyfong? Where are their demands for justice? Where's the talk of reparations for these players wrongly accused?

 

There is no consistency or balance in the application of moral outrage.

 

When did we cease seeking to be Americans... united we stand, divided we fall... instead of a bunch of aggrieved huddled masses yearning to sue?

 

What is right for one is right for all, regardless of skin tone, ethnic heritage or financial standing. I'm certain Martin Luther King would agree 100%.

I heard a clip from an interview that he gave yesterday and the reporter brought up the situation. He avoided the question, but said that you had look at whether it was a repeated pattern of a person using such language.

Your right slavery isn't a black/white thing. However, slavery in this country has and always will be a black/white thing. The Africans did what they needed to do in order to survive, they needed the products that selling the slaves brought them. However, in the USA, rich, racist, white folks tried to keep an entire race down by making the Africans slaves. Slavery had nothing to do with necessity, debts, or capture in the USA, it had all to do with race and superiority.

Darn right, guilt should make the white man roll over. However, when it is used in the right circumstances. Using it to pardon crimes or abuse is not valid at all. However, when one uses it to try to bring down a racist on National Radio/Television, and others scream, "Why not both sides?" Think for a second... How would you respond to facing daily ridicule because of the color of your skin? Knowing that you may be treated worse because you are an African American? I completely understand why JJ and AS are so quick to attack the racist white men/women who speak out with intolerance. White people have 5% of the population to attack all the minority racists....

So basically you're saying that African-Americans can do whatever they want to discriminate against Whites, based on the fact that 150 years ago our ancestors treated their ancestors inhumane? That is the type of thought that has our country in the racially tense situations we have these days. You cannot cure past injustices and discriminations by discriminating. It causes more bitterness between the two races and only further the unfortunate divide that we see today. I hope for society's sake that not many share that viewpoint.
