My wife is fond of stating that "actions speak louder than words." She is right.

 

It is my opinion that Al, Jesse and lots of politicians have two separate agendas. A public agenda they give voice to whenever a mic or camera is present; and a personal agenda for power, wealth and recognition that is far more important to them. As has been pointed out already, Al and Jesse would be out of work if people ever realized that there is only one human "race" that comes in lots of amazing sizes, shapes and colors; and the best thing we can all do is try to build on our common strengths and needs while rejoicing the richness of our differences.

 

They may say they want the things Martin Luther King preached so passionately, but their actions reveal otherwise... because, if MLK's beautiful dream ever came true, they'd both have to go back to preaching, and everybody knows there's no real money to be made preaching the true Gospel. :lol:

 

I agree with what you say. These two love it when there's controversy that enables them to be in the spotlight for a while. IMO both are 'Reverends' in self-appointed name only.

Did he bother to ask for meetings with Don Imus to talk about change and giving a positive message. No, he immediatedly wanted the man fired. Again complete Hypocrisy.

It's not just Al Sharpton, the media in general does more harm than good. They make things racial issues when they are not and for the life of me I can't figure out why they do this.

 

If these comments had not been widely reported by every media outlet in the country, very few people, including the Rutgers' Womens Basketball team, would have heard them.

 

I honestly couldn't care less what Don Imus says on his radio show. He could slander me and I wouldn't care. Nobody I know listened to his show.

I know whites screwed up, and will never claim to understand what it's like to be an African-American, but you cannot try to "make up" for what happened. By allowing African-Americans to display the same racist behavior that Whites are held accountable for, is not promoting equality, but rather discrimination and it makes the tension between the races grow. The ideal society that we both can agree is desired, is one where race doesn't matter, and isn't an issue. However by giving different races different standards is only going to make it that much harder for us as a society to reach that goal.
