April 5, 200719 yr All the fans wanted was better recruiting, if Tubby wanted to stay (he didnt), all he had to do was hire the asst. Coach he just hired in minnesota(the guy from OK. St).
April 5, 200719 yr I will say this on the matter: I think it's funny that Tubby bashers pretty much wanted the program to fail while he was here just so he would go. Many pointed out how crazy that was, considering no TRUE fan of a team would ever wish harm to come to it. Now I get the sense that those that were big supporters of Tubby are almost reveling in how UK is struggling to find a coach and almost wish the program to fail as punishment. Tubby bashers were told to go find another team. Tubby supporters are now being told the same. You simply can't make this stuff up.

April 5, 200719 yr Tubby is a nice guy and does not deserve to be treated poorly but lets face it he took a top 2 or 3 program in the nation with fans and talent and have made this program a top 40 team in the nation in talent on the court. You can look at it any other way you want too but UK is a mediocre basketball school now and for whatever reason it may be of poor recruiting, the players not working hard enough, not of enough talent, poor assistant coaching, players getting arrested for fake ID's, (and by the way that never stopped them from doing it again) UK has turned into an average basketball school with a lot of money. Donovan weighed the pro's and con's and made a good decision. Tubby was handed a lot of talent early in his career and no one can deny because the facts are right there the program went down hill from his first two seasons on. Two of his elite eight appearances were in his first two seasons. Tubby is a nice guy but he got what he deserved. He did not get fired he was offered some alternatives in his coaching approach from the higher ups and he did not like that and left.

April 5, 200719 yr True UK Fans will stay with the program under any circumstance!!!! No doubt, but true fans will also not wish for their team to do badly simply to get rid of a coach. It's just silly, and it's silly for any Tubby supporter to feel the same way.
