April 3, 200719 yr Florida's president discusses playoff Describes UK and Vandy as "SEC weaklings" and questions what they have done to earn their share of the BCS pie. It remains unfair, he says, that SEC football weaklings Kentucky and Vanderbilt get more BCS money than his old school, which went to the Fiesta Bowl in 2004. Kentucky and Vanderbilt and all these teams that don't do anything get a share of (the BCS) money Also has some fairly controversial ideas on other subjects. An entertaining read.
April 3, 200719 yr This gets me fired up as a fan, so hopefully the players will see these comments and use it as further motivation.

I'm not totally against what he's saying...UK and Vandy do reap the benefits, but, theres alot of years teams from other conferences didn't even have a team good enough to get in the BCS, but, because of conference ties, they did and all the other teams from that conference benefitted...An example would be Pitt 2 years ago, who was ranked either 19th or 20th, but, got a bid. Another example would be W.Forest this past year...They weren't one of the top 8-10 teams in the country, but, they got the payoff as did the other teams in there conference...
April 3, 200719 yr Just for the record, he doesn't think it's fair that schools like Kentucky and Vandy get more BCS money than schools like K-State did, when K-State made it to a BCS game in 2004. I can see his point, but that's one of the benefits of playing in a strong conference like the SEC.
April 4, 200719 yr Is he upset that UK is going to use their BCS money to pay his basketball coach?
April 4, 200719 yr Maybe he is saying it because he knows we are about to take his basketball coach. That's got to be it, or he just doesnt follow college football. Because if he did he would know that UK won a bowl game.

He didn't mind taking his team's share of the Music City Bowl this season did he? I know that wasn't a BCS bowl, but to stab the other members of the conference in the back is classless. He don't mind sharing the money made from the UK fans at EVERY basketball venue in the SEC.
