May 8, 200719 yr No -- the loss should go to the pitcher that gave up the deciding run -- not the last one. In your example, the guy who gave up the first run (since 1 bests the 0 the Reds scored in your example) would be the loser. Whomever allows the "losing run" should get the loss. I too have always questioned the logic behind the way MLB does this...I always thought the loser should be the guy who gave up the winning run.

May 8, 200719 yr Author Ross is playing second???? Ha. I'm sure C Trent will be hearing about that one...
May 8, 200719 yr With Milton pitching, then the bullpen, they'll need for outfielders than infielders...
May 8, 200719 yr Freel cf Phillips 2b Junior rf Conine 1b Gonzales ss Dunn lf Encarnacion 3b Ross c Milton p I'm guessing a lefty throwing for the stros?
May 8, 200719 yr Yes. Jim Deshaies I believe. ba dump bump. Yes, Wandy Rodriguez is on the hill for the Astronomicals.
May 8, 200719 yr We should see a lot of fire works tonight from both teams. First to 9 wins the game.
May 8, 200719 yr For the record, the problem last night was that he didn't throw the fastball on 3-2 and got beat on a pitch "he's working on (change-up)." If you saw Pole after the inning (nice to see him get into his grill) he wanted the heater there and not a 88 mph batting practice fastball (err, change-up). I agree with Malachi, depending on Guardado to be the difference 6 months after Tommy John surgery is a joke. I didn't see it last night, so I had no clue what he threw, but he seems to fall in love with the fastball a little too often.
May 8, 200719 yr The Phillies may have made the playoffs last year had they called up Cole Hamels earlier. The Angels may have made the playoffs had they called up Jared Weaver earlier in the season. Will the Reds have the same regret at the end of this season?

Will the Reds have the same regret at the end of this season? I think that would apply more to last season.

Will the Reds have the same regret at the end of this season? No, because Bailey isn't going to make up 15-20 games which is what the Reds would need to make the playoffs....
May 8, 200719 yr Looking at the stats tonight, Wandy for Houston is 0-3, our favorite Uncle is 0-4. Something has to give, let's take a WILD GUESS. Milton hasn't won a game since August 8th last year. lol
