Billy D may have no interest in leaving Florida and coming to UK but Mitch is going to go after him...Billy Donavon will be choice #1 and he will be the next coach at UK if he wants it...Personally I don't see him leaving UF, he no doubt has a great thing going there.

From UK's standpoint the bad thing about going after Donovan is that he may be busy for a couple more weeks.

Here's what I think.

 

If UK doesn't name a coach before the end of the tournament, it will be because they KNOW they have Donovan on ice. UK is hurtin for certain on the recruitment front at the moment, and they're facing the possible defection of their key post player (Morris.) It's a very serious gamble for them to wait on someone. I think that, combined with the fact that the price tag on Donovan will be outrageous, means that UK is going to end up going elsewhere.

I perceive Tubby to be a nice man, good guy to have from a PR standpoint and actually a Good Coach {if you like his style}, but as a CEO of KY BB he’s failed. It is painfully obvious that his Management Skills are severely lacking. I for one thought that Tubby would be a can’t miss guy on the recruiting trail, but for the most part that’s what he’s done...Miss! As CEO he’s responsible for all aspects of the Program and between his Staff and the entire organization and it is painfully obvious that he’s made bad decisions throughout his tenure. Yes the other Programs in the SEC have gotten better, but KY has actually fell pack to the Pack because of Coach Smith. The Program is in decline. Just look at the Top 25 over the past 2 years. If Barnhart can’t see this, if the President can’t see this and if the influential boosters don’t see it then we’re in free fall mode for sometime to come. Even in the 2 trips we had in the Elite 8 under Tubby, you still knew that we really didn’t have that one Horse that could put us over the Top!

 

 

 

Tubby has taken this Program as far as he’s capable.

 

In fact, he inherited a Rolls Royce and turned it into a VW. Brooks inherited a VW and has turned it into a Mid-size automobile.
